Job Description

General Summary:

Qualcomm, a global leader in technology innovation, is seeking a seasoned Hardware Engineer to join the BT Radio Optimization team. The team is responsible for the development, validation, and commercialization of advanced Bluetooth (BT), WiFi, and UWB radio/modem features for Qualcomm's connectivity products. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams, including RFA, Firmware, Systems, and Characterization, across geographies to ensure world-class product performance and smooth commercialization.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 12+ years relevant engineering experience.
  • OR
  • Master's degree in relevant discipline with 10+ years relevant experience.
  • Experience in hardware engineering roles, with exposure to circuit design, test, validation, and debugging.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years experience in circuit design (digital, analog, RF).
  • 2+ years experience with schematic capture and circuit simulation software.
  • 2+ years experience using hardware design and measurement tools (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, RF testers, etc.).
  • 1+ year in a technical leadership role (mentoring, task ownership).
  • Strong Python programming skills; experience with C# preferred.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and validate radio/modem features for Bluetooth and related connectivity products.
  • Create and optimize RF test cases using Python; analyze RF performance data and communicate results to engineering and management teams.
  • Lead debugging and resolution of hardware/software issues in late-stage product development and post-commercialization support.
  • Collaborate with global cross-functional teams to troubleshoot, optimize, and automate test solutions.
  • Lead and plan testing and maintenance tasks within the BT Radio Optimization team.
  • Provide mentorship to junior engineers and drive team success in a dynamic environment.
  • Document solutions, bug fixes, and best practices for sharing across teams.


Technical Skills & Knowledge:

  • Strong foundation in radio fundamentals, calibration algorithms, Bluetooth, WiFi, and UWB technologies.
  • Experience with coexistence (Coex) testing in wireless systems.
  • Familiarity with automation testing, test harness development, and industry-standard test automation tools.
  • Proficiency with issue tracking tools like JIRA, Microsoft DevOps.
  • Deep understanding of signal processing and radio communications.
  • Knowledge of electronic hardware schematics and RF lab equipment (spectrum analyzers, vector signal generators, combiners, Bluetooth testers).
  • Good grasp of RF metrics and system-level radio performance.
