Job Description
As a Retina Surgeon, you'll diagnose and treat retinal diseases like retinal detachment, diabetic retinopathy, AMD, and macular holes. You'll perform surgeries like vitrectomies and laser treatments, provide post-operative care, and stay current with advancements in retinal care, all while working with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Clinical Duties:
- Conduct comprehensive eye exams and retinal evaluations.
- Diagnose retinal diseases such as diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, retinal detachment, and other vitreoretinal disorders.
- Prescribe medical treatment and recommend appropriate surgical interventions.
- Surgical Duties:
- Perform retina-related surgeries, including vitrectomies, retinal reattachments, and laser treatments.
- Use advanced surgical equipment and techniques to treat complex retinal conditions.
- Provide pre-operative and post-operative care for patients undergoing retinal surgeries.
- Patient Management:
- Maintain patient records, including diagnostic results and treatment plans.
- Counsel patients and their families on the nature of their conditions, treatment options, and expected outcomes.
- Work closely with the medical team, including general ophthalmologists and other specialists.
- Collaboration:
- Work with other medical professionals to create personalized treatment plans for complex retinal diseases.
- Provide mentorship and training to junior staff and medical residents in retinal care.
- Research & Development:
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in retinal surgery and treatments.
- Contribute to clinical research and publications in the field of ophthalmology.
Required Qualifications
- M.B.B.S, M.S. (Ophthalmology), and DNB or Fellowship in Retina Surgery (preferred).
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in retinal surgeries.
- Expertise in using advanced diagnostic equipment such as OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) and fluorescein angiography.
- Strong communication skills and a compassionate attitude toward patient care.
