Company Overview: Foundation for Neglected Disease Research (FNDR) is a not-for-profit biotech R&D organization dedicated to discovering and developing novel therapeutics, diagnostics, and devices for diseases with a high socio-economic impact. Minimum Qualification:
- M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, or a closely related field
- PhD in organic chemistry / medicinal chemistry
- Postdoc in organic chemistry / Medicinal chemistry (Optional)
- 0-4 years of hands-on experience in working on bench, preferably in an industry
Responsibilities:
- Design and execute synthetic routes to prepare small molecules for drug discovery programmes
- Track SAR and optimizing potency, selectivity, and properties of small molecules for research programs
- Perform purification and structural characterization of compounds
- Troubleshoot synthetic problems and optimize reaction conditions
- Providing mentorship and guidance to junior colleagues
- Maintain accurate lab records and contribute to technical reports
- Collaborate with analytical teams as needed
- Providing input on intellectual property activities
Technical and Soft Skills:
- Skilled in multistep organic synthesis, reaction optimization, and compound isolation
- Proficient in chromatography (TLC, column, flash), spectroscopic analysis (NMR, LC-MS, HPLC), and purification techniques (recrystallization, precipitation, others)
- High level of creativity and productivity with strong synthetic chemistry problem solving skills
- Demonstrated excellence in organic synthesis, conversant with the current literature
- Effective oral and scientific/technical writing communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Commitment to lab safety and adherence to safety protocols
- Familiarity with reaction databases (e.g., Reaxys, SciFinder)
- Proficiency using MS Office applications is required
