Job Description

Position Summary

The candidate will work closely with competency and business R&D teams to study a wide range of materials, focusing on their fundamental properties and analyzing them using appropriate characterization techniques for applications across Saint-Gobain's product portfolio, specifically for the Gyproc business. The role involves contributing to competency development, establishing know-how, identifying product- and application-specific test methods, and interpreting results to build structure–process–performance correlations. The candidate will also visit manufacturing plants when required to understand processes, support quality issues, and address customer requirements.

The candidate must possess

  • Strong background and fundamental understanding of inorganic materials, solids, oxides, and cementitious systems.
  • Hands-on experience with materials characterization techniques such as XRD, SEM, optical microscopy, and thermal analysis (TGA/DSC).
  • Good understanding on analytical software associated with the characterization techniques.
  • Basic knowledge of sample preparation methods for powders and solids.
  • Exposure to powder processing and handling.
  • Ability to analyze data using Excel or other statistical tools
  • Modeling and simulation is an advantage but not mandatory.

Educational Qualification

  • M.Tech / M.S/ M.E in Materials Science and Engineering, Metallurgy, Physics, Inorganic Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering (with specialization or strong exposure to materials, metallurgy, process engineering, manufacturing technologies)

Industrial experience: added advantage.
