Senior Research & Development Specialist - Front Signal Lighting
Responsibilities
- Lead research and development initiatives for front signal lighting applications in automotive vehicles, including new product development and existing product improvement.
- Design, develop, and validate state-of-the-art lighting systems and components such as LED, laser, and halogen technologies according to established industry standards.
- Collaborate with the product design team to review specifications and requirements and ensure designs meet performance and safety standards.
- Partner cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams to coordinate development projects, meet timelines, and resolve technical challenges that may arise.
- Spearhead innovative product solutions and create prototypes; test efficiency and effectiveness, identifying areas for adjustment and improvement.
- Analyze front signal lighting market trends and competitors to identify potential opportunities for innovation and connections to consumer needs.
- Oversee the preparation and execution of test plans, analyzing results to provide expert input for product modifications or development plans.
- Communicate with suppliers, external partners, and internal teams to source new materials and technologies that contribute to product innovation and competitive edge.
- Ensure all R&D projects for front signal lighting systems and components comply with federal, state, and industry regulations and guidelines.
- Contribute to the preparation of engineering and project documentation, adhering to company policies and industry standards.
- Oversee and mentor junior team members, providing expert advice, guidance, and feedback to support their career development.
- Present research findings, project updates, and innovative ideas to senior management, effectively influencing strategic decision-making.
Senior Research & Development Specialist in Front Signal Lighting is expected to possess a wealth of experience in lighting technology, a strong technical acumen, and robust leadership abilities. This role demands an individual who can efficiently drive research & development processes, steer innovative strategies, and foster a collaborative atmosphere within the team.
Qualifications
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of 8 - 10 years experience in research and development, preferably in FSL applications.
- Strong understanding of FSL scripting language as well as demonstrated proficiency in other programming languages such as C++, Java, or Python.
- Experience with database management and data analysis tools.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to explain complex concepts in simple terms.
- Proven ability to manage projects, prioritize tasks and deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in using project management and collaboration tools.
- Experience with agile development methodologies is preferred.
- Ability to work well in both a team setting and independently.
- Ability to provide strong technical leadership and strategic direction.
- Experience working cross-functionally with teams such as engineering, sales, and marketing is an advantage.
- Aptitude for staying up-to-date with the latest industry trends, advancements, and best practices.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and multitasking abilities.
