Job Description

Aster Medcity is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registrar Internal Medicine to join our dynamic team. This role is critical in providing high-quality, evidence-based medical care to critically ill patients, particularly those in Intensive Care Units (ICU) and High Dependency Units (HDU). The ideal candidate will possess clinical acumen, procedural expertise, and a collaborative approach to multidisciplinary care.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Care & Clinical Management

  • Provide comprehensive medical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for critically ill patients admitted to the ICU and HDU.
  • Manage acute and complex medical conditions, ensuring timely and appropriate interventions.

Procedural Skills

  • Perform invasive procedures when required, including:
  • Endotracheal intubation
  • Central venous catheterization
  • Arterial line placement
  • Chest tube insertion
  • Ensure that all procedures follow evidence-based guidelines and safety protocols.

Multidisciplinary Collaboration

  • Work in close coordination with intensivists, nursing staff, respiratory therapists, and allied health professionals to:
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans
  • Monitor patient progress and modify treatment as needed
  • Ensure continuity and quality of care

Clinical Rounds & Monitoring

  • Conduct daily clinical rounds and bedside assessments to:
  • Evaluate patient progress
  • Recognize early signs of deterioration
  • Adjust therapeutic strategies accordingly

Diagnostics & Interpretation

  • Order and interpret a wide range of diagnostic tests including:
  • Laboratory investigations
  • ECGs
  • Chest X-rays
  • CT scans and other imaging modalities
  • Integrate clinical and diagnostic findings to formulate and adapt treatment plans.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: MBBS with MD/DNB in Internal Medicine or equivalent.
  • Experience: Prior ICU/critical care exposure preferred.
  • Licensure: Valid registration with the Medical Council of India or relevant state authority.
  • Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of internal medicine and critical care protocols
  • Proficiency in life-saving procedures and emergency response
  • Excellent clinical judgment and decision-making
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
