Main Purpose of the Role

The Registrar serves as a senior administrative leader responsible for academic governance, regulatory compliance, quality assurance, and student records management for the campus.

The role ensures adherence to Indian higher education regulatory frameworks while maintaining alignment with the academic standards and institutional policies of the parent university or governing academic body.

As custodian of academic records and institutional policies, the Registrar acts as the key liaison with regulatory bodies, legal counsel, institutional leadership, and external stakeholders, including parents and guardians on academic matters.

The position also plays a critical role in ensuring operational alignment between the international parent institution and the India campus, supporting compliance, reporting, and quality assurance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Academic Administration

  • Oversee student registration, academic records, examinations, certifications, and graduation processes.
  • Ensure accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality of academic records and institutional data.
  • Supervise academic administration teams supporting faculty and student services.

Governance and Compliance

  • Serve as Secretary to statutory academic and governance bodies.
  • Develop, implement, and review academic regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensure adherence to institutional governance frameworks.

Quality Assurance & Regulatory Compliance

  • Lead institutional quality assurance and academic effectiveness initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory bodies such as UGC, AICTE, NAAC, and other relevant authorities.
  • Coordinate regulatory reporting, audits, and accreditation requirements.

Student Compliance & Policy

  • Implement and monitor policies related to academic integrity, student conduct, attendance, and academic progression.
  • Manage academic compliance tracking and address policy violations.

Resource Allocation & Operations

  • Oversee academic scheduling, timetabling, and utilisation of academic facilities.
  • Coordinate departmental workload distribution and academic operational planning.

Parent and Guardian Liaison

  • Serve as a point of contact for academic queries from parents and guardians.
  • Ensure communication is handled with professionalism, confidentiality, and institutional integrity.

Policy, Risk & Legal Oversight

  • Maintain institutional academic policies, compliance frameworks, and risk registers.
  • Ensure legal and regulatory compliance in coordination with institutional legal advisors.
  • Support audits and external inspections related to academic governance and institutional performance.

Strategic Collaboration

  • Work closely with academic leadership and operational teams to ensure institutional alignment.
  • Contribute to strategic planning, programme development, and accreditation processes.
  • Represent the institution before regulatory and accreditation bodies where required.

Qualifications & Skills

  • A Ph.D. or Master's degree in Education, Administration, or a related discipline from a recognised institution.
  • 15+ years of experience in academic administration, governance, quality assurance, or faculty management within higher education.
  • Strong knowledge of university regulations, curriculum governance, and accreditation frameworks.
  • Demonstrated expertise in institutional compliance, academic policy development, and regulatory engagement.
  • Strong leadership, strategic planning, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
