Key Responsibilities
Redis Administration
- Manage and maintain Redis clusters (standalone, sentinel, and Redis Enterprise setups).
- Perform upgrades, patching, and capacity planning.
- Configure persistence (RDB, AOF) and high availability.
- Monitor Redis performance and tune configuration parameters.
- Handle backup/recovery and disaster recovery planning.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues.
Kafka Administration
- Deploy, configure, and maintain Kafka clusters (including Zookeeper).
- Monitor Kafka performance, tune parameters, and ensure message reliability.
- Manage topic creation, partitioning, replication, and retention policies.
- Handle security configurations (SSL, SASL, ACLs).
- Support schema registry, Kafka Connect, Kafka Streams, and MirrorMaker.
- Troubleshoot consumer/producer lag and broker-related issues.
L3 Support
- Act as an escalation point for complex incidents and root cause analysis.
- Automate common DBA tasks using scripting (Python, Bash etc.).
- Develop and maintain infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
- Collaborate with SRE and DevOps to integrate with CI/CD pipelines.
- Participate in on-call rotations and incident response.
Required Skills Experience
- 6+ years in database/infrastructure management roles.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with Redis.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with Kafka.
- Proficiency in Linux systems administration.
- Strong scripting knowledge (Bash, Python, or similar).
- Experience with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, etc.).
- Knowledge of container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Understanding of networking, firewalls, DNS, and load balancing.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Redis Enterprise and Confluent Kafka.
- Certifications in Redis/Kafka/Linux.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Experience in PCI/HIPAA-compliant environments.
