RBI Chair Professor in Development / Rural Economics

Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA), founded in 1979, is a premier national-level institute for MBA, PhD and mid-career professional education, inter-disciplinary research, and consulting in rural management and development.

The Reserve Bank of India has been operating the Scheme of Corpus Fund in Universities and Research Institutions to promote Economic Research, Training in Banking and Economics. The Reserve Bank of India has established a Corpus Fund under the Endowment Scheme with a Professorial Chair in the Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA), a Research Institution for Research in economic and allied subjects and higher levels of learning.

IRMA invites applications from eminent scholars with proven track record of independent research and publication in highly reputed journals for the RBI Chair Professorship in Development / Rural Economics.

The appointment for RBI Chair Professor position is a tenured appointment for five years with a probation period of two years. RBI Faculty position, Pay Band, and eligibility conditions are shown below:

Eligibility Conditions

• The candidate must be a professor with at least 10 years of post-PhD experience in teaching and research.
• The candidate should have demonstrated leadership in research or consultancy projects of substantial size and scope.
• Minimum Publications: A minimum of 12 journal publications in the last 10 years is required, including at least 5 in Category A (ABDC A or SJR >1.000) and 2 in Category B (ABDC B or SJR 0.500-0.999) or above.

*Everything else being equal, people with demonstrated expertise in applied and agricultural economics, development economics, and rural economics would be preferred. Selected candidate already in a higher pay matrix may be protected.

Candidates must have a portfolio of engagements, including research, teaching, training/extension,
