Position: Software Test Engineer

Previous experience: Design and development manual and automated test cases for on-prem solutions using well established test frameworks.

Location: Hyderabad

Employment type: Full-time regular – Hybrid (60% office, 40% remote, 100% office first 6 months)

The job

As part of the ALM team you will design, write, and execute functional, integration, performance, and regression tests across the range of authoring applications for Asset Lifecycle Management (ALM) solutions. This will include manual and automated UI testing and later as well as automated Web API testing. A Test Engineer is expected to have full responsibility for their tests. You will proactively identify improvements and enhancements to existing test suites. Test Engineer will be part of a larger product development team.

Key Responsibilities


  • Develop tests, run tests, find defects, and log defects effectively
  • Apply Functional Test methods
  • Execute different phases of testing: systems integration, systems testing & user acceptance testing
  • Help with backlog refinement and participate in Scrum meetings including sprint planning, daily Scrum meetings, sprint retrospectives and sprint reviews
  • Plan work spanning multiple sprints
  • Promote processes and best practices for the team and suggest improvements to products.


Ideal Experience


  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree qualification in engineering, software engineering or equivalent degree or experience
  • Experience of 2-4 years in a software testing role within a project team environment
  • Good understanding of Agile methodologies
  • Experience of performance testing, load, interface/integration testing, and stress testing is beneficial.


Great Skills To Have


  • Good communication skills, working with a broad range of people, including Product Owners, Testers & Product Support across sites
  • Ability to quickly understand products/systems/architecture and propose tests and/or test strategies
  • Good understanding of development/test processes
  • Use and development of automation tests using tools such as VSTS, TestComplete etc.
  • Basic/intermediate level of software programming VB, C, C#, macro programming, defect tracking tools, such as Azure DevOps or Jira
  • Clearly report test status with metrics, covering test development, execution, and defects status
  • Ability to estimate and plan testing and create structured Test Plans and Test Reports
  • Excellent communication skills (English)
  • Quick learner, enthusiastic and result oriented
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills with attention to detail and quality, ability to think strategically and logically
  • Experience of working in companies focused on the engineering market, particularly for the shipyard operations, would be looked on very favourably
  • Experience of working with engineering data in disciplines such as oil and gas, pharmaceutical, petro-chemical, utilities, and manufacturing is beneficial
  • Experienced in most elements of the complete project lifecycle for delivery projects to include: scoping, requirements, design, build, test, training and roll-out
