Job Description

The R&D Data Analysts role will be primarily focused on the development of strategic insights and deliver smart analytics in support of R&D priorities. This includes connecting data across multiple data sources through curated metrics and developing insights focused on portfolio analysis and reporting.Critical elements of this role will provide accurate visualization fit-for-purpose to generate the insights. Position will interface with finance team, establish appropriate QC checks to ensure accuracy of the information, review Portfolio reports, generate requirements for new reports, gather insights from reports and socialize within R&D team

Responsibilities

Execute against team charter (SLA) for Reporting & Analytics

  • Create/Maintain/Upgrade excel utility tools (templates & model) leveraging VB/macros and complex formulas
  • Execute portfolio level reporting of R&D spend (people & projects) (utilizing dashboards, templated decks, and reporting tools)
  • Provide business performance explanations, incorporating considerations beyond data into the reporting
  • Explain business performance, drivers, and optimization opportunities
  • Provide responses to ad-hoc follow-ups when double-click (additional questions) required with tables/charts/stories using relevant data

Support Reporting Lead/Sr.Managers/Managers delivering against information needs articulated by Business Partners; addressing business questions and process requirements

  • Deliver against needs of stakeholders, requestors and end service users
  • Responsible for managing multiple priorities; being able to manage deadlines and deliverables
  • Monitor and act upon regular feedback inputs from end-users and Business Partners for deliverables
  • Maintaining Data integrity across multiple platforms, like Excel (AOP Data Collection), Clarity (Portfolio Management) & Anaplan (Finance system)
  • Support the preparation of data loads on period basis
  • Ensure data accuracy after period data loads by Finance
  • Coordinate with Power BI reporting team on latest data for reports / dashboards
  • Solicit new reporting / dashboarding requirements with R&D team
  • Generate insights and socialize with R&D team

SSC strategy delivery

  • Support efforts to establish Insights sub-team within service center as a delivery point of contact for all regular insights needs for Business Partners
  • Support simplification, standardization and digitalization efforts (in coordination with global R&D stakeholders)

Qualifications

  • A junior/mid-level Insight or Analytics professional with experience in a consumer goods company. 6 years+ experience
  • Education: Bachelors in Computer Science, Economics, Math, Data Science or Management
  • Language: English Fluent
  • Has a track record of identifying and championing new processes for improving fact-based decision making
  • Excellent technical skills to process, analyze and visualize data
  • Proven ability to multi-task and deliver against aggressive goals
  • Proficient with PowerPoint and Excel; including ability to write macros (VB) and complex formulas
  • Working knowledge of one or more SQL languages such as Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.
  • Experience with an array of data visualization tools, experience with Power BI preferred but not required
  • Proven ability to work with a high degree of flexibility and comfortable with ambiguity and change
  • Great stakeholder management skills
  • Solution-oriented approach to problem solving
  • Ability to identify and capitalize on opportunities to gain efficiencies and improve process & deliverables
  • Depth and breadth of custom and syndicated research/analytics
  • Strong in financial modelling, economic analysis and creative problem solving
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight and excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Connects with cross functional partners in PepsiCo Global R&D to source relevant data and insights
