Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role based in Mumbai for a Quantity Surveyor (Marine), referred to as Qs Marine. The Qs Marine will be responsible for managing all aspects of contract coordination and cost estimation for marine construction projects. Daily tasks include preparing budgets, cost estimates, bills of quantities, project specifications, and progress reports. The role also involves evaluating contractor bids, assisting in tender processes, and ensuring compliance with contractual obligations. The Qs Marine will work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to achieve project goals efficiently and within budget.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Quantity Surveying, cost estimation, and analyzing bills of quantities
  • Strong understanding of contracts, tendering processes, and project budgeting
  • Expertise in project tracking, cost control, and contractor evaluations
  • Familiarity with marine construction methods, materials, and industry standards
  • Excellent skills in communication, negotiation, and stakeholder collaboration
  • Proficiency in relevant software tools such as MS Excel, Project Management software, and AutoCAD
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field
  • Previous experience in marine or infrastructure development projects is preferred
  • Attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to meet tight deadlines

Key Responsibilities

  • Tendering & Estimation
  • Review tender documents, drawings, and technical specifications for marine and infrastructure works.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and Bills of Quantities (BOQs).
  • Coordinate with engineering, planning, and procurement teams to gather inputs.
  • Develop and submit competitive bids aligned with company strategy.
  • Maintain tender documentation and track bid outcomes.
  • Cost Management
  • Prepare project cost plans and budgets.
  • Monitor ongoing project costs and highlight deviations from budget.
  • Ensure value-for-money while maintaining quality standards.
  • Client & Stakeholder Coordination
  • Interact with clients, consultants, and subcontractors during tender and execution phases.
  • Provide inputs for subcontractor selection and rate analysis (especially relevant in marine works).

Skills & Qualifications

Experience: Minimum 10 years in quantity surveying, preferably with marine or heavy infrastructure projects.

Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of marine construction methods, cost estimation, and contract management.

Analytical Skills: Ability to evaluate subcontractor rates, assess risks, and optimize project costs.

Communication: Effective coordination with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
