Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our Projects Team. The ideal candidate will have over 10+ years of experience in quantity surveying within the construction or infrastructure domain. The role involves managing all cost aspects of the university's construction projects, ensuring cost control, contract compliance, and value engineering for optimal project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets, and tender documents for various construction projects within the university.
- Conduct thorough quantity take-offs and measurement surveys for materials and works.
- Manage and evaluate contractor quotations, bids, and contracts to ensure competitive pricing and adherence to specifications.
- Monitor project costs and progress, identifying and reporting any cost overruns or risks promptly.
- Perform value engineering exercises to optimize cost without compromising on quality and safety.
- Administer contracts, including variation orders, claims, and dispute resolution in line with contractual terms.
- Collaborate closely with architects, engineers, project managers, and suppliers for seamless project delivery.
- Ensure compliance with university policies, statutory regulations, and industry standards.
- Prepare regular cost reports and forecasts for senior management.
- Mentor and guide junior quantity surveyors and project staff.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's/Master's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum 10 years of proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, preferably in educational or institutional projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and contract law.
- Proficiency in quantity surveying software and tools (e.g., CostX, Bluebeam, MS Excel).
- Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Familiarity with local building codes and statutory requirements.
Preferred:
- Professional certification (e.g., RICS, CIOB, or equivalent) is an added advantage.
- Experience working in a university or institutional infrastructure environment.
