Job Description

Job Title: Quality Supervisor

Designation: Engineer / Senior Engineer

Location: Sri city, Andhra Pradesh


Educational Qualification & Experience

  • Graduate Degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Production / Automobile or relevant discipline preferred)
  • 7 to 10 years of experience in Quality function in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of problem-solving techniques (7 QC Tools, RCA, CAPA, 8D, PFMEA, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of quality testing instruments, gauges, calibration, and inspection controls
  • Knowledge of quality systems and standards (ISO / IATF / TS standards preferred)


Roles & Responsibilities

1. Line Quality Monitoring & Process Compliance

  • Monitor day-to-day inspections and testing activities in each process/line.
  • Conduct periodic sample checks of parts, tools, gauges, and fixtures.
  • Ensure adherence to defined SOPs and inspection formats (dimensional checks, visual checks, gauge checks, tooling inspection, process audits).
  • Analyze defects, deviations, and rejections to identify trends and root causes.
  • Ensure immediate line stoppage and quarantine/segregation of defective parts in case of process deviation.
  • Coordinate with Production teams to resolve non-conformances and customer-related complaints arising from manufacturing processes.
  • Track rejection levels during setups, tooling, and production runs and ensure corrective actions are taken.
  • Ensure calibration and proper functioning of gauges, measuring instruments, and testing equipment.

2. RCA & CAPA Implementation

  • Take immediate containment actions such as segregation, quarantine, and tagging of rejected parts.
  • Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for recurring defects (machine, process, operator, material, tool-related).
  • Prepare and implement CAPA in coordination with Production, Tooling, Maintenance, and other stakeholders.
  • Track and review CAPA implementation effectiveness to ensure reduction in defect recurrence.
  • Document all RCA findings, CAPA actions, and corrective measures as per system requirements.

3. Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain and verify shift-wise quality reports, inspection sheets, and test records.
  • Monitor charts and reports (run charts, Gantt charts, PMC, process capability reports) to ensure adherence to quality controls.
  • Ensure test failures, critical deviations, and key issues are recorded in relevant documents (Data History Sheets, control plans, etc.).
  • Conduct critical process capability checks every shift and review results with Production for necessary improvements.
  • Prepare quality reports and metrics for analysis (PFMEA review reports, 8D reports, rejection summaries, customer complaint reports).
  • Support audit documentation requirements for internal audits, process audits, TS/IATF audits, and customer audits.
  • Assist in preparation and updating of QMS documents (SOPs, work instructions, visual aids, manuals).
  • Coordinate with Customer Quality / Marketing teams during customer visits, inspections, and trials.

4. Quality Improvement & New Product QA Support

  • Participate in Cross Functional Teams (CFT) for quality improvement, delivery enhancement, and customer satisfaction initiatives.
  • Analyze internal complaints and recurring line issues and propose preventive solutions.
  • Participate in QMS audits and ensure closure of audit observations through corrective actions.
  • Support implementation of quality improvement projects aimed at defect reduction and process stability.
  • Support New Product Development activities and ensure New Product Quality Assurance through:
  • IMTE identification and requirement planning
  • Gauging and inspection planning
  • Customer requirement analysis and implementation
  • PPAP documentation support
  • Coordination with PED/MED for inspection requirement execution

5. Team Supervision & Workforce Development

  • Supervise line quality inspectors and ensure adherence to inspection procedures and standards.
  • Provide On-the-Job Training (OJT) to blue collar associates on inspection methods, quality standards, and defect identification.
  • Allocate tasks, set performance expectations, and monitor productivity and quality output.
  • Ensure compliance with prescribed inspection guidelines and QMS requirements.
  • Handle grievances, conflicts, disputes, and maintain discipline within the team.
  • Foster team spirit and ensure smooth coordination between Quality and Production teams.
