The Quality Engineer Mechanical (Piping) will be responsible for implementing and monitoring quality control activities for piping systems in compliance with project specifications, codes, and standards. The role involves inspection, verification, and coordination of piping fabrication, installation, welding, testing, and commissioning activities to ensure adherence to quality standards and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and monitor Quality Control activities for piping works in compliance with project specifications, ITPs, codes, and standards.
- Review and approve piping drawings, isometrics, spool drawings, and method statements.
- Conduct inspections for:
- Incoming piping materials (IMIR / MTC verification)
- Fit-up, alignment, and dimensional checks
- Welding activities (as per WPS/PQR)
- PWHT, NDT coordination, and review of reports
- Hydrostatic and pneumatic pressure testing
- Ensure compliance with ASME, API, ASTM, and project-specific standards.
- Coordinate with Third-Party Inspection (TPI), clients, and consultants during hold and witness points.
- Maintain inspection records, NCRs, corrective actions, and close-out documentation.
- Monitor piping installation, supports, painting/coating, and insulation works.
- Ensure proper material traceability and weld numbering.
- Support pre-commissioning and commissioning activities related to piping systems.
- Read and interpret P&IDs, isometrics, and GA drawings.
Technical Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong knowledge of ASME B31.3, ASME Section IX, and API standards.
- Hands-on experience with hydrocarbon piping systems.
- Knowledge of welding processes, NDT, PWHT, and pressure testing.
- Familiarity with ITPs, QCPs, MAR, IMIR, loop files, and QA/QC documentation.
Qualification & Experience:
- Diploma / B.Tech in Mechanical or related discipline.
- 8+ years of relevant experience in Oil & Gas / Hydrocarbon projects, preferably in construction, fabrication, and commissioning phases.
