About NewJaisa:
NewJaisa is a fast-growing startup in the certified refurbished technology space. We specialize in sourcing, grading, refurbishing, and reselling laptops and desktops - primarily from premium brands like Dell, HP, and Lenovo - to individual and enterprise customers across India. We are building a world-class quality operation and are looking for a hands-on QA/QC professional who takes ownership, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is passionate about delivering reliable, high- performing refurbished devices to our customers.
Role Overview:
As a QA/QC Engineer at NewJaisa, you will own the end-to-end quality assurance process for our refurbished laptops and desktops. You will define grading standards, build inspection frameworks, identify failure patterns, and work closely with our technicians and sourcing teams to ensure every product we ship meets our quality benchmarks. This is a high-impact role with the opportunity to build and lead a QA.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Device Inspection & Grading
- Physically inspect incoming refurbished laptops and desktops (Dell, HP, Lenovo) and categorize
them by condition grade (A/B/C or equivalent framework).
- Perform functional, cosmetic, and performance assessments on each unit; include battery health checks for laptops.
- Define, document, and maintain grading standards and inspection checklists aligned with industry norms.
2. QA Process Design & Implementation
- Develop SOPs for incoming quality control (IQC), in-process quality checks, and outgoing quality control (OQC).
- Collaborate with the refurbishment and operations team to embed quality gates at every stage of the workflow.
- Ensure processes are documented, repeatable, and scalable as volumes increase.
3. Defect Analysis & Root Cause Investigation
- Investigate quality escapes and customer returns; perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
- Track defect patterns across brands, models, and vendors to identify systemic issues.
- Maintain a defect log and continuously drive reduction in defect and return rates.
4. Vendor / Supplier Quality Management
- Evaluate lot quality from sourcing vendors and provide structured, data-backed feedback.
- Work with procurement to define acceptable quality levels (AQL) for incoming batches.
- Flag underperforming vendor lots and recommend sourcing decisions based on quality data.
5. Data, Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Track and report on quality KPIs: defect rate, return rate, grade accuracy, and turnaround time.
- Apply quality tools such as Pareto Analysis, FMEA, control charts, and Lean principles to drive improvements.
- Present quality insights to leadership with clear, actionable recommendations.
6. Team Training & Quality Culture
- Train technicians on quality standards, inspection techniques, and common failure modes specific to Dell, HP, and Lenovo laptops and desktops.
- Create visual aids, quick reference guides, and training materials for the refurbishment floor.
- Foster a quality-first mindset across the entire operation.
Requirements & Skills:
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 2–6 years of hands-on QA/QC experience in a laptop or desktop PC hardware environment.
- Prior experience at an OEM, authorized service center, or distributor for Dell, HP, or Lenovo is strongly preferred.
- Experience in a refurbished or remanufacturing setup is a significant advantage.
Technical Skills
- Deep knowledge of laptop and desktop hardware: motherboard, display panels, keyboard, storage
(HDD/SSD), RAM, PSU, battery (laptops), and I/O ports.
- Proficient in diagnostic tools: HWiNFO, CrystalDiskInfo, MemTest86, BatteryInfoView, and OEM diagnostic utilities.
- Familiarity with grading standards, AQL sampling, and quality management systems (ISO 9001 is a plus).
- Working knowledge of quality tools: FMEA, Pareto Analysis, Fishbone Diagrams, and Control Charts.
- Comfortable with data tracking and reporting via Excel or Google Sheets.
Soft Skills & Mindset
- Startup-ready: hands-on, self-driven, and comfortable with ambiguity and a fast pace.
- Sharp attention to detail - you catch what others miss.
- Strong communication skills to coordinate across technicians, operations, and leadership.
- Ownership mindset - you treat quality as your personal responsibility, not just a checklist.
Good to Have:
- Certifications: CQA (Certified Quality Auditor), CQE (Certified Quality Engineer), or CompTIA A+.
- Experience setting up or structuring a QA function in a startup or SME environment.
- Knowledge of e-waste regulations and responsible refurbishment practices in India.
- Exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, or Total Quality Management (TQM) methodologies.
