Key Responsibilities
- Review and approve incoming raw materials for chemical composition, mechanical properties and other specified criteria.
- Monitor casting/forging/machining processes: conduct firstpiece checks, inprocess inspections, dimensional verification, hardness/tensile testing where required.
- Detect, log and analyse defects (e.g., shrinkage, porosity, dimensional nonconformance) and liaise with production to initiate corrective actions.
- Ensure final inspection of finished components: verify drawings/specifications, perform functional/visual checks, mark/trace conforming items.
- Maintain inspection records, nonconformance reports, and generate quality data and reports for management review.
- Participate in internal audits, supplier audits, and support customer audits as required.
- Assist in maintaining and improving Quality Management System (QMS) in alignment with ISO 9001/other certifications.
- Support rootcause analysis and implement corrective/preventive actions.
- Promote and maintain 5S, safety and housekeeping in the quality lab/inspection area.
- Provide training for operators/technicians on quality standards and measurement techniques.
Qualifications Skills
- Bachelors or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy, Production Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum 3-5 years experience in quality control in a foundry/casting/forging/machining environment (non-ferrous preferred).
- Strong understanding of casting processes and forging/machining contexts.
- Good knowledge of inspection tools: calipers, micrometers, CMM, roughness tester, hardness tester.
- Experience in rootcause analysis tools (5 Why, Fishbone), corrective action implementation.
- Knowledge of QMS (ISO 9001) and basic ERP exposure is an advantage.
