Job Title: Senior Purchase Engineer

Job Purpose
The Senior Purchase Engineer will be responsible for end-to-end procurement of castings, raw materials, and mechanical components required for pharmaceutical machinery assembly. The role demands strong engineering knowledge, SAP/ERP proficiency, supplier management expertise, and adherence to quality and delivery requirements in a regulated pharma equipment environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Procure castings, fabricated parts, raw materials, and mechanical components as per BOM and project requirements.
- Handle vendor development, evaluation, and performance monitoring for mechanical and machining suppliers.
- Ensure timely availability of materials to support machinery assembly and project schedules.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, lead times, and contracts to achieve cost optimization.
- Create and manage Purchase Requisitions, Purchase Orders, and GRNs in SAP/ERP systems.
- Coordinate closely with Engineering, Production, Quality, and Planning teams.
- Interpret engineering drawings, BOMs, specifications, and process sheets for accurate procurement.
- Ensure compliance with pharma industry standards, quality requirements, and internal procedures.
- Monitor inventory levels, minimize excess stock, and support cost reduction initiatives.
- Resolve supplier-related issues related to quality, delivery delays, and technical deviations.
- Support audits, documentation, and vendor quality assessments as required.
Educational Qualification
- Bachelor of Engineering (BE) Mechanical Engineering (Mandatory)
Experience Requirements
- 610 years of experience in procurement/purchase
- Prior experience in machinery manufacturing or pharmaceutical equipment assembly preferred
- Strong exposure to mechanical components, castings, machining parts, and raw materials
Key Skills & Competencies
- In-depth knowledge of mechanical engineering processes
- Strong understanding of manufacturing methods, materials, and machining
- Hands-on experience in SAP / ERP procurement modules
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and BOMs
- Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills
- Cost control and strategic sourcing capability
- Good communication and coordination skills
- Knowledge of GMP / pharma equipment standards is an advantage
