Job Summary:
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Purchase Engineer responsible for sourcing and procuring raw materials required for production, along with selected finished goods. The candidate will play a critical role in ensuring timely availability of quality materials at competitive prices. Experience in sheet metal procurement will be an added advantage.
Key Responsibilities:
- Procure raw materials required for manufacturing operations in a timely and cost-effective manner
- Source and purchase finished goods as per project or operational requirements
- Identify, evaluate, and develop reliable vendors and suppliers
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers
- Ensure materials meet required technical specifications and quality standards
- Handle RFQs, purchase orders, and vendor comparisons
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with production and stores teams
- Ensure timely delivery of materials to avoid production delays
- Maintain proper documentation of procurement activities and vendor records
- Track market trends, pricing, and supply conditions
Preferred / Added Advantage:
- Experience in sheet metal procurement
- Exposure to electrical / engineering manufacturing industry
- Knowledge of vendor networks in and around Chennai
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree / Diploma in Electrical Engineering or related field
- 2 to 5 years of experience in procurement or purchase function
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Proficiency in MS Excel and ERP systems
