As the Purchase Specialist for Structural Steel and Fabrication, you will be responsible for overseeing the procurement of structural steel and related materials, ensuring timely and cost-effective sourcing to support our projects. You will develop and implement purchasing strategies, manage supplier relationships, and ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategic procurement plans for structural steel and fabrication materials.
- Understand IS, and RDSO guidelines.
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, negotiate contracts, and manage supplier relationships.
- Ensure the timely procurement of materials to meet project schedules and budgets.
- Perform cost-comparison analysis during procurement of materials from multiple vendors.
- Monitor market trends and adjust procurement strategies to optimize costs.
- Coordinate with the engineering, project management, and fabrication teams to ensure materials meet project specifications and quality standards.
- Oversee the inventory management of structural steel and fabrication materials.
- Conduct regular audits of suppliers to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
- Prepare and present procurement reports to senior management.
- Implement cost-saving initiatives and process improvements in the procurement function.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and ethical standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to find suppliers in India for Structural Steel and fabrication components needed for steel bridge manufacturing.
- Understand Indian railways and RDSO manufacturing standards for accurate procurement.
- Exceptional research skills to locate vendors and suppliers in India.
- Extensive network of contacts pan-India to locate required items.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
- Minimum of 3-4 years of experience in procurement, with a focus on structural steel and fabrication materials.
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
- Excellent understanding of market trends, pricing, and supply chain dynamics in the steel and fabrication industry.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing successful procurement strategies.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
