Role Purpose
To lead and manage project and strategic procurement activities, ensuring cost-effective sourcing, reliable vendor performance, and timely material availability in line with project and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic & Project Procurement
- Lead sourcing of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and project equipment (valves, pipes, pumps, panels, skids, fire-fighting systems, etc.).
- Develop sourcing strategies for critical and long-lead items.
- Plan procurement schedules in line with project execution timelines.
2. Vendor Management & Development
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers.
- Conduct vendor negotiations on price, delivery, warranty, and commercial terms.
- Monitor supplier performance, quality, and delivery reliability.
- Drive cost-reduction and supplier-development initiatives.
3. Commercial & Contract Management
- Finalize rate contracts, long-term agreements, and major POs.
- Negotiate payment terms, delivery schedules, liquidated damages, warranties, and tax structures.
- Ensure contractual and statutory compliance (GST, freight, insurance, etc.).
4. Cross-Functional Coordination
- Work closely with engineering, project, QA/QC, finance, and logistics teams.
- Resolve technical, commercial, and delivery issues with suppliers.
- Support project managers with material planning and risk mitigation.
5. Systems, Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure effective use of SAP / ERP for procurement tracking and reporting.
- Maintain compliance with ISO, audit, and internal control systems.
- Prepare procurement MIS, cost saving reports, and vendor performance dashboards.
6. Team Leadership
- Guide and mentor junior purchase executives and engineers.
- Review work, approve POs, and ensure smooth daily operations.
