Publicity & Marketing Manager (Pan Macmillan India)
Your team: This is an exciting opportunity to join an award-winning publisher in a professional, dynamic and creative Marketing team.
Your role: Reporting to the Managing Director with a dotted line to the Editorial Director, the Publicity and Marketing Manager will implement strategic marketing and publicity initiatives to increase awareness and drive demand for the Pan Macmillan India list. This role is based in New Delhi.
Your key responsibilities:
Marketing
- Develop and execute end-to-end marketing campaigns for frontlist and backlist titles across all imprints for fiction and non-fiction titles.
- Manage digital marketing efforts, including targeted social media ads, email newsletters, and Amazon A+ content optimization.
- Identify, allocate and track marketing budgets to ensure maximum ROI for each title.
Publicity
- Strategize and execute publicity campaigns for authors, titles across the Pan Macmillan India group.
- Develop and implement effective strategies to secure positive coverage across all platforms, including print, broadcast and social media.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with trade and consumer press, and online bloggers to pitch unique angles in a competitive marketplace
- Produce outstanding press releases and material (biographies, photo coverage, synopses), and creation of talking points to optimise book coverage.
- Pursue partnerships with event organizers, venues, platforms, F&B partners and others to showcase books and authors
- Create and present publicity pitches as part of the author acquisition process.
- Provide feedback to the business, the recommended plan, and results of, all publicity strategies.
Events & Author Management
- Conceptualize and manage physical and virtual book launches, lit-fest appearances, and bookstore tours.
- Manage the tour logistics for exposure opportunities including interviews, events, appearances, awards, and photo shoots.
- Collaborate with literary festivals across India to secure speaking slots for Pan Macmillan authors.
- Oversee awards positioning and submissions for assigned titles and promotions.
Essential experience, abilities and knowledge you'll need to succeed:
- Ability to plan and execute creative and diverse marketing and publicity plans.
- Lead and manage a team of publicists, digital media executives, and marketing assistants.
- Build relationships with journalists, influencers, and other publicity partners.
- Basic design/video literacy (Canva/Premiere Pro is a plus).
- Good social media knowledge.
- High level organisation skills.
Experience:
- 4-5 years experience as a publicist in a publishing house
