JOB DESCRIPTION

Prototype Engineer

manufacturers.

The Role:

Reviewing prototype orders based on the Prototype Management System. Support of all

local prototype activities to determine the most efficient manufacturing route. Supporting RFT manufacture of prototypes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for prototype engineering, requests, manufacturing and inspection, which

includes reviewing prototype requests (internal and external) in conjunction with the prototype.

  • Determine preferred manufacturing sourcing route and delivery date.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, cost analysis, and risk assessments for new product

proposals.

  • Compare required components with available forgings to identify the best fit.
    • Identify raw component sourcing (forgings or semi-finished parts) to meet the final prototype needs.
    • Create in process engineering drawings when required to support the finished assembly and supporting line companies.
    • Create PMS requests for raw material. Order all materials needed:
  • Required knowledge on application engineering, BOM and Windchill.
    • Develop new machining processes, in-process measuring methods and suppliers.
  • Deliver required outcomes by coordinating the activities of subcontractors and suppliers and

acting as a primary point of contact for them.

  • Help to install complex systems and conduct inspections of equipment with guidance.
  • Communicate the status of orders with requestors.
    • Directly coach team members and maintain a physical presence.
    • Communication of appropriate site information to the team.

Who you'll be:

To be successful in this position, you will have proven experience in machining and assembly processes in the automotive industry or a related environment. Experience working with Siemens and Fanuc-based CNC machines would be an advantage.

Specific Functional Capabilities, Knowledge and Skills Required

Essential Skills

  • Able to accurately interpret engineering drawings, bill of materials, and execute instructions.

Creatively solve technical challenges with independent actions as appropriate.

  • Manufacturing Engineering skill

  • Manage project timelines, track progress, and ensure milestones are achieved on

schedule.

  • Collaborate with other departments to maintain consistency and meet quality standards

Standards

  • Identify shortcomings in existing manufacturing processes, systems, and procedures.

  • Good computer application software knowledge.

Tool Skills

  • Good PC based computer skills MS Windows, Word, Excel, etc.

  • Programming / Edit -Fanuc /Siemens CNC machines

  • Auto cad / Creo

Desirable

  • Experience required in Machining & assembly process.

  • Machine process knowledge (CNC Lathe,VMC, Spline rolling, Heat treatment, Angular Grinding, Milling machine )

  • 6+ years (combined) experience in product design and manufacturing process.

  • project and time management skills to handle

multiple tasks, interact and coordinate workflow with internal support personnel.

Language Skills

Must be fluent in English
