Job Title: Background Verification (BGV) Manager Operations & Product Development
Location: India (Remote start)
Experience: 715 years in Background Verification, Compliance, or HR Operations
47 years exposure to BGV tools, automation, or product implementation (mandatory)
Role Overview
We are looking for a BGV Manager who is not just operational, but product-mindedsomeone who deeply understands end-to-end background verification workflows and can translate real-world BGV challenges into scalable software features.
This role will work closely with product managers, developers, AI/ML engineers, legal/compliance teams, and clients to build a next-generation, automated, AI-driven BGV platform for global use.
Key Responsibilities
1. BGV Operations & Domain Ownership
- Own end-to-end BGV lifecycle:
- Identity verification
- Employment verification
- Education verification
- Criminal record checks
- Address verification
- Global database checks
- Reference checks
- Drug test coordination (where applicable)
- Define SOPs, SLAs, TAT benchmarks, and quality metrics.
- Handle complex discrepancy cases, escalations, and audit responses.
- Ensure high accuracy, compliance, and client satisfaction.
2. BGV Software & Platform Development (Core Responsibility)
- Act as the domain lead for building the BGV software platform.
- Convert manual BGV workflows into automated digital processes.
- Define:
- User journeys (HR, candidate, verifier, admin)
- Workflow logic
- Case management systems
- Escalation & exception handling
- Work with product and engineering teams to:
- Write functional requirement documents (FRD)
- Create process flow diagrams
- Validate UI/UX from an operations perspective
- Ensure the platform supports multi-country, multi-vendor BGV models.
3. Technology & Automation Exposure
- Collaborate on integrating:
- AI/ML for discrepancy detection
- OCR & NLP for document parsing
- API integrations (universities, employers, government databases)
- RPA for repetitive verification tasks
- Help design:
- Smart dashboards
- Automated status updates
- Predictive TAT & risk scoring
- Participate in decisions related to:
- Cloud architecture (AWS / Azure / GCP)
- Microservices-based BGV modules
- Data security & encryption standards
4. Compliance, Legal & Data Privacy
- Ensure compliance with:
- India IT Act
- GDPR
- DPDP Act (India)
- Local labor & privacy laws for global checks
- Define consent management frameworks within the software.
- Support ISO, SOC2, and internal audits.
- Work with legal teams to standardize authorization and consent formats.
5. Vendor & Global Partner Management
- Manage third-party verification vendors (domestic & international).
- Design vendor onboarding modules inside the platform.
- Track vendor performance using automated scorecards.
- Optimize costs and turnaround times via platform intelligence.
6. Client Enablement & Pre-Sales Support
- Support enterprise sales by:
- Demonstrating BGV workflows
- Designing custom verification packages
- Answering compliance and feasibility queries
- Act as a subject matter expert (SME) during enterprise onboarding.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Mandatory
- Deep hands-on experience in BGV operations (India + at least 2 global regions)
- Strong understanding of manual and automated BGV processes
- Experience working with or implementing BGV software/tools
- Ability to work with product and engineering teams
Preferred
- Exposure to AI-based HR Tech or BPO automation platforms
- Experience in startup or product-building environments
- Knowledge of:
- REST APIs
- Workflow engines
- Case management systems
- Basic understanding of databases, dashboards, and system integrations
