Job Description: Project Head - Underground Mining

Location: HZL Underground Mining Sites, Rajasthan, India

Position: Project Head

Must have: Underground metal mining exp

Certification: Must possess a valid First Class Mines Manager's Certificate of Competency (Unrestricted) issued by DGMS.

Key Responsibilities

* Project Management & Execution: Oversee all aspects of the underground mining project, including development, production, and infrastructure. Ensure project milestones, timelines, and budgetary goals are met. Develop and implement comprehensive project plans and schedules.

* Operational Excellence: Drive productivity and efficiency in all mining activities, such as drilling, blasting, mucking, and transportation. Implement best practices and innovative mining technologies to optimize operations.

* Safety & Compliance (SHE): Champion a safety-first culture. Ensure strict compliance with all Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS) regulations and company safety, health, and environmental (SHE) policies. Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments.

* Stakeholder Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for the client (Hindustan Zinc Limited). Maintain strong professional relationships, ensuring client satisfaction and effective communication. Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and regulatory bodies.

* Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and manage a multidisciplinary team of engineers, mine managers, supervisors, and operators. Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.

* Financial & Resource Management: Manage the project budget, control costs, and ensure financial profitability. Oversee the procurement, allocation, and maintenance of heavy earth-moving machinery (HEMM) and other critical resources.

* Reporting & Documentation: Prepare and present regular progress reports, performance analyses, and forecasts to senior management and the client. Maintain accurate project documentation as per statutory and company requirements.

Qualifications & Experience

* Education: A Bachelor's degree (B.E. or B.Tech.) in Mining Engineering from a reputable institution.

* Certification: Must possess a valid First Class Mines Manager's Certificate of Competency (Unrestricted) issued by DGMS.

* Experience: A minimum of 15-20 years of progressive experience in mechanized underground metal mining operations.

* Proven Track Record: Demonstrated experience in a leadership role, managing large-scale mining projects, preferably with a leading mining contractor.

* Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of underground mining methods, mine planning, ventilation, and strata control.
