Job Description – Project Engineer, Crushing & Screening (Tamil Nadu / Kerala)

Role purpose

The Project Engineer leads crushing & screening plant projects at customer sites, from civil foundations to final commissioning. The role makes sure each plant is installed safely, on schedule and to drawing, and handed over to the customer in full working order.

Key responsibilities

Civil works

• Study site layout, foundation and civil drawings before work starts.
• Mark out the plant layout and check levels, alignment and foundation bolt positions.
• Supervise civil contractors on excavation, PCC, RCC foundations and structures.
• Check concrete quality, curing and dimensions against drawings.
• Release foundations for erection only after checks are complete.

Erection

• Plan erection sequence, manpower, cranes and tools with the site team.
• Supervise erection of crushers (jaw, cone, VSI), screens, feeders, conveyors, hoppers and structures.
• Ensure correct alignment, levelling, bolting and grouting of all equipment.
• Check received materials against packing lists and report shortages or damages to the factory.
• Manage erection contractors and their daily progress.

Commissioning

• Carry out pre-commissioning checks: lubrication, belt tension, alignment, electrical connections and safety guards.
• Run no-load and load trials and fine-tune the plant for rated output and product size.
• Solve mechanical and process issues found during trials.
• Train customer operators on operation, safety and basic maintenance.
• Prepare commissioning reports and get handover sign-off from the customer.

Safety & quality

• Enforce site safety rules, PPE use and safe lifting practices.
• Maintain quality checklists for every stage of work.

Coordination & reporting

• Act as the main contact with the customer at site.
• Coordinate with the factory for drawings, spares and material dispatch.
• Send daily progress reports with photos and weekly project status to the manager.
• Track project schedule and raise delays early.

Qualifications & skills

Education: B.E./B.Tech or Diploma in Mechanical or Civil Engineering.

Required:

• 5–10 years in civil, erection and commissioning of crushing & screening plants or similar heavy equipment

• Hands-on knowledge of jaw, cone and VSI crushers, vibrating screens, feeders and conveyors

• Ability to read civil, structural and mechanical drawings

• Experience managing contractors and site manpower

• Good knowledge of site safety practices

• Good communication in Tamil or Malayalam, plus English or Hindi

• Valid driving licence; willing to travel and stay at site

Preferred:

• Experience with a crushing & screening equipment manufacturer

• Basic knowledge of electrical panels and plant automation

• Working knowledge of MS Excel and reporting
