Project Design Engineer - ( Water Treatment )

The Water/Wastewater Project Design Engineer will support the planning and design of water and wastewater treatment facilities, contributing to the development of construction documents including drawings, technical specifications, and cost estimates. The role includes preparation of equipment layouts, Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), as well as performing hydraulic analyses and coordinating multidisciplinary design elements. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to municipal and industrial treatment projects while developing technical expertise aligned with North American standards and best practices.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Develop construction documents, including plans, technical specifications, and cost estimates for water and wastewater treatment projects.
  • Prepare equipment layouts, Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Design and support the development of various WTP/WWTP components, ensuring integration across treatment processes.
  • Perform hydraulic calculations and develop hydraulic profiles to evaluate system performance and process interactions.
  • Specify and coordinate major treatment equipment, including pumps, blowers, screens, valves, and actuators.
  • Coordinate with mechanical, civil, and structural disciplines to ensure cohesive and constructible treatment plant designs.
  • Support the application of applicable standards and codes (e.g., AWWA, ASTM, ASCE), with willingness to learn and apply North American design requirements.
  • Utilize design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and related tools to prepare engineering drawings and documentation.
  • Participate in design reviews, resolve technical issues, and contribute to continuous improvement of design processes.
  • Collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams and communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering.
  • Minimum 23 years of experience in the water/wastewater sector.
  • Experience developing construction documents, including plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Familiarity with preparation of equipment layouts, PFDs, and P&IDs.
  • Understanding of hydraulic profiles and treatment process interactions.
  • Knowledge of specifying pumps, blowers, screens, and related process equipment.
  • Familiarity with mechanical, civil, and structural coordination requirements in treatment plant design.
  • Experience with or willingness to learn North American standards and codes (AWWA, ASTM, ASCE).
  • Past U.S. project experience is advantageous but not required.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar design software.
  • Competency in hydraulic calculations using Excel or specialized software.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, collaborative mindset, and effective English communication skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability and attention to technical detail.
