About the Role

Uber Scaled Solutions is one of Uber's biggest bets. Our ambition is to build one of the world's largest data foundries for AI applications and evolve into the platform of choice for a variety of online tasks.

As a seasoned Program Manager for Data Labeling in the GenAI space, you will oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of data annotation programs for B2B clients. You will define program objectives to support LLM model training and drive cross-functional efforts across Operations, Product, Engineering, and Legal.

We are looking for a leader with an Owner and Go-Get-It mindset. You must be customer-obsessed and build with heart, demonstrating the ability to craft a high-level vision while rolling up your sleeves to see the forest and the trees. If you're passionate about reimagining the gig marketplace for skilled workers, this is the opportunity for you.

What You'll Do

  • Strategy & Definition: Define key objectives for data labeling projects to support Generative AI initiatives and identify data requirements alongside Data Scientists and ML Engineers.

  • Workflow Design: Design and optimize scalable labeling workflows leveraging internal tools, external vendors, and automation (including active learning and pre-labeling).

  • Customer Engagement: Partner with Account Executives to represent Scaled Solutions in customer meetings and ensure alignment on success criteria.

  • Vendor & Resource Management: Manage relationships with global data labeling vendors and oversee program budgets, forecasting, and resource allocation.

  • Quality Excellence: Implement robust QA processes (IAA, precision/recall, throughput) to validate datasets against gold standards.

  • Inclusive AI: Advocate for unbiased labeling practices to mitigate bias in AI models.

  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate with Global Supply, Product, and Engineering to lead feature launches and process improvements.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience: 5+ years managing scaled operations programs.

  • Domain Expertise: At least 1+ year of direct experience in GenAI or model training data operations.

  • Technical Literacy: Strong knowledge of machine learning concepts and model training data needs.

  • Adaptability: Proven track record of thriving in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.

  • Project Management: Experience managing large-scale projects with cross-functional teams and external vendors.

Expertise That Excites Us

  • Education: MBA or equivalent advanced degree.

  • Specialized Knowledge: Deep experience in Generative AI (Text, Image, Video, or Audio labeling) and familiarity with Human-in-the-Loop (HITL) systems.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in data annotation platforms and scripting languages to analyze datasets.

  • Market Insight: Strong understanding of the gig economy landscape, freelancer behaviors, and recruitment strategies.

  • Ethical AI: Deep understanding of best practices for minimizing dataset bias.

  • Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills ability to influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
