Technical Project / Program Manager
Engineering & Technology
Department: Engineering / Technology
Education - MBA from Tier-1
Experience: 3-5 Years
Employment Type: Full-Time
Reports To: VP of Engineering / CTO
About the Role
We are looking for a seasoned Technical Project / Program Manager to drive the end-to-end lifecycle of complex software programs. In this role you will serve as the primary conduit between engineering teams and senior leadership, translating technical execution into clear executive-level visibility. You will own program strategy, planning, risk management, and delivery while keeping stakeholders aligned and informed at every stage.
The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced software environments, has a strong technical foundation, and possesses exceptional communication skills. You will be equally comfortable whiteboarding architecture trade-offs with engineers and presenting roadmap updates in the boardroom.
Key Responsibilities
Executive Visibility & Stakeholder Communication
- Establish and maintain program dashboards, status reports, and executive-level communication cadences that give leadership real-time insight into progress, risks, and decisions needed.
- Present program updates, milestone readiness reviews, and risk assessments to C-suite, VPs, and cross-functional leadership forums.
- Translate complex technical details into business-oriented narratives, ensuring executive stakeholders can make informed decisions quickly.
- Drive alignment across product, engineering, design, and business teams through regular steering committee meetings and decision logs.
End-to-End Program Lifecycle Ownership
- Own the full delivery lifecycle from initiation, scoping, and planning through execution, launch, and post-release retrospectives.
- Define program charters, success criteria, milestones, and resource plans in collaboration with engineering and product leadership.
- Build and maintain integrated program plans spanning multiple workstreams, squads, or services with clear dependency mapping.
- Manage scope, schedule, budget, and quality trade-offs; escalate deviations early and recommend corrective actions.
Risk Management & Issue Resolution
- Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate program-level risks and cross-team dependencies.
- Facilitate root-cause analysis and drive resolution for critical blockers, ensuring minimal impact to delivery timelines.
- Maintain a risk register and communicate escalation paths clearly to all stakeholders.
Process Improvement & Operational Excellence
- Champion and continuously improve project management frameworks (Agile, Scrum, SAFe, Kanban, or hybrid) to suit the organization's needs.
- Introduce tooling, automation, and reporting improvements that increase transparency and reduce manual overhead.
- Lead retrospectives and capture lessons learned to drive continuous improvement across programs.
Team Enablement & Collaboration
- Partner with engineering managers and tech leads to remove impediments and ensure teams are set up for success.
- Foster a culture of accountability, ownership, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Mentor junior project managers and scrum masters within the organization.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in technical project or program management within a software development organization.
- Proven track record of delivering complex, multi-team software programs on time and within scope.
- Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC), CI/CD pipelines, cloud-native architectures, and modern engineering practices.
- Hands-on experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools such as Jira, Confluence, Asana, or equivalent.
- Demonstrated ability to create and present executive-level program status, roadmaps, and risk dashboards.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence without authority across all levels of the organization.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach to decision making.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Business, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
Preferred Qualifications
- PMP, PgMP, CSM, SAFe Agilist, or equivalent professional certification.
- Experience managing programs in cloud/SaaS environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Familiarity with DevOps practices, microservices architecture, and API-driven platforms.
- Prior experience in organizations practicing scaled Agile frameworks (SAFe, LeSS, Spotify model).
- MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
- Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, Looker) for executive reporting.
What We Offer
- Competitive compensation package with performance-based bonuses.
- Opportunity to influence and shape how programs are delivered across the engineering organization.
- A collaborative, innovation-driven culture that values transparency and continuous learning.
- Flexible work environment with remote/hybrid options.
- Professional development budget and support for industry certifications.
