Position Summary
The Professor at UNSW Bengaluru is a senior academic role responsible for leading disciplinary excellence across teaching, research, and university service. The position contributes to the academic development of the campus by guiding curriculum design, mentoring faculty, and supporting scholarly activity aligned with UNSW's global standards and local regulatory frameworks. This role plays a key role in academic governance and quality assurance, and is expected to maintain an active research profile, contribute to strategic initiatives, and foster collaboration across UNSW and external partners. This role supports the establishment of a high performing academic culture and contributes to the long-term success of UNSW. Additionally, the role is responsible for ensuring quality assurance and compliance with UNSW academic standards and University Grants Commission (UGC) regulatory requirements.
Accountabilities
- Provide academic leadership in curriculum design, delivery and review across postgraduate programs.
- Ensure teaching quality and pedagogical innovation aligned with UNSW standards and local regulatory frameworks.
- Maintain an active research profile with outputs in high-impact journals and scholarly forums.
- Lead research initiatives and secure competitive funding from national and international sources.
- Support academic staff development through coaching, peer review and structured programs.
- Contribute to strategic planning and academic governance, including committee participation.
- Uphold academic integrity and compliance with UNSW and local education regulations.
- Lead quality assurance processes and support accreditation activities where relevant.
- Foster interdisciplinary collaboration and cross-campus academic alignment.
- Build external partnerships with industry, government and academic institutions.
- Represent UNSW Bengaluru in public forums, conferences and professional networks.
- Promote inclusive academic culture and contribute to student engagement initiatives.
- Provide input into operational matters including staffing, infrastructure and resource planning.
- Ensure safe and compliant academic practices across teaching, research and supervision.
Skill & Experience
- Completed PhD in technical cyber security, computer science with a focus on technical cyber security, or closely related discipline and at least 10 years of relevant work experience
- Demonstrated experience in teaching and leading curriculum development in cyber security topic areas such as cyber offence, cyber defense, digital forensics, information assurance and security, software security, and data and decision analytics for cyber security
- Demonstrated experience in developing and using cyber security applications in Linux, including on cloud platforms and leading the design and development of practical teaching materials and assessments
- Demonstrated significant track record in research including publications in high impact journals, research funding, research supervision and research leadership
