Electrical Maintenance Engineer – Copper Industry
Job Summary
The Electrical Maintenance Engineer is responsible for ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of all electrical systems and equipment used in copper processing operations (such as smelting, refining, rolling, and casting). The role involves preventive and breakdown maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of electrical systems.
Key Responsibilities:1. Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of electrical equipment.
- Diagnose faults in motors, drives, transformers, switchgear, and control systems.
- Ensure quick resolution of breakdowns to minimize downtime.

- Equipment Handling
- Maintain critical equipment such as:
- HT/LT panels and switchgear
- Transformers and rectifiers
- Motors (AC/DC)
- VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives) and PLC systems
- Furnaces and electrolysis systems (specific to copper processing)
- Process Support
- Work closely with production teams in smelting, refining, or rolling operations.
- Ensure uninterrupted power supply and process continuity.
- Support commissioning and installation of new equipment.
- Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
- Develop and implement maintenance schedules.
- Use condition monitoring tools (thermography, insulation testing, vibration analysis).
- Maintain maintenance records and logs.
- Safety & Compliance
- Follow electrical safety standards and lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Ensure compliance with statutory regulations and plant safety policies.
- Conduct safety audits and risk assessments.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and maintenance reports.
