Role Description
The Production & Planning Assistant will be the operational backbone of the Sonipat factory floor. The role demands strong coordination between production, project engineering, and sales teams to drive manufacturing schedules, provide real-time order updates, and consistently meet production targets. This is a hands-on, execution-focused position suited to a disciplined professional who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
1.Shop Floor Management
Oversee day-to-day production activities and ensure smooth workflow across all shop floor stages
Monitor work-in-progress (WIP) and drive timely movement of jobs through the production cycle
Identify and resolve production bottlenecks promptly; escalate critical issues to the Factory Manager
Enforce compliance with quality standards, safety protocols, and company SOPs on the shop floor
Maintain accurate production records including job cards, output logs, and machine utilisation reports
2.Production Planning & Scheduling
Assist in developing and maintaining weekly and monthly production schedules aligned with delivery commitments
Track raw material and component availability; coordinate with stores and procurement to prevent stoppages
Update and manage production trackers to reflect real-time job status across all active orders
Prioritise jobs based on customer urgency, project timelines, and management directives
3.Cross-Functional Liaison
Serve as the primary interface between the factory floor and the Project Engineering and External Sales teams
Provide timely, accurate updates on order status, expected completion dates, and deviations or delays
Represent the production function in internal project review meetings and cross-departmental discussions
Coordinate dispatch readiness by aligning production completion with QC clearance and logistics teams
4.Reporting & Performance Monitoring
Support the Factory Manager in achieving monthly and quarterly production targets
Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly production performance reports
Track KPIs including on-time delivery rate, production efficiency, and rejection/rework rates
Continuously identify opportunities to improve throughput and operational efficiency
Qualifications
Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Production, or Industrial Engineering
25 years of experience in a production/manufacturing environment; engineering equipment sector preferred
Hands-on experience in shop floor supervision and production scheduling
Familiarity with industrial equipment such as valves, strainers, or orifice assemblies is a distinct advantage
Proficiency in MS Excel for tracking and reporting; exposure to ERP systems is desirable
Strong written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional coordination
