Production Manager - Core Assembly

Purpose

Ensure adherence to production targets for Core Assembly, Assembly & Tanking sections in terms of cost, quality, throughput & timeliness.

Formulate a fortnightly section-wise plan based on the production schedule provided by the PMO team detailing throughput , timeliness required and desired quality of products

Undertake Production Planning and Control activities ensuring adherence to production targets in terms of cost, quality, throughput, timeliness and collaborate with the PMO Team to revise schedules if required

Oversee completion of sub contracted activities and ensure all parts are assembled in line with predefined specifications and timelines

Coordinate with the technical design (electrical and mechanical) function for a design review before the start of every work order and for clarifications on design parameters during production

Liaise with procurement function on a monthly basis for sourcing of all the stock items

Ensure material requisitions are raised on time to obtain the material from the stores team

Ensure adequate supervision on core assembly, assembly and tanking

Coordinate with the quality assurance department to ensure timely completion of audits; Coordinate with quality control team for inspection at different stages of production

Interact regularly with the plant engineering function for undertaking any changes required in the production process or facilities

Liaise with the sales team to understand customer expectations in terms of cost, quality and delivery time (if required)

Manage employee production teams and employee deployment schedules in order to meet production targets

Attend productivity meetings to discuss the discrepancies in the planned vs actual plan.

Co-ordination with HR for setting the desired productivity norms during union agreement.

Drive discipline on the shop floor and maintain healthy industrial relations in coordination with the HR function

Monitor & ensure ZERO OVERTIME is maintained in the plant.

Lead the safety committee to evaluate design and development of work areas in order to make environmental health and safety recommendations

Drive a culture of continuous improvement in all aspects of the production process; lead productivity improvements through automation of systems and processes in coordination with the engineering function

Monitor and analyze operational data related to production, operation of plant & machinery to identify priority areas of the production process

Participate in the business unit meetings to identify areas of growth in terms of enhancing production capabilities and drive implementation of the same

Identify production bottlenecks and ensure elimination of the same in coordination with the engineering function

Keep abreast with developments in the industry and best practices, highlight initiatives which can be implemented at BBL and submit recommendations to top management

Drive cost savings through cost effective utilization of resources, process improvements and reduction in operational expenses / overheads

Define formats and submit critical MIS to senior management with recommendations (daily report for production and monthly report for quality and productivity in terms of throughput & timeliness)

Ensure all production related documentations / records are maintained and updated through SAP

Ensure compliance to SOP's ,process flows and production protocol to ensure minimum deviation from specifications

Provide inputs related to required manpower to the Human Resources Department to facilitate adequate manpower planning
