Role Summary
Leads end-to-end plant operations for high-volume notebook and stationery manufacturing. Responsible for the full production lifecycle—from demand forecasting to production to maintenance, compliance, and people leadership.
The primary focus is to drive operational efficiency, ensure 100% quality, and meet production targets
Key Responsibilities
1. Production Deliverables: Plan and execute shop-floor operations
- Demand Forecasting: Analyze historical trends to forecast annual volumes (70 lakh units) and ensure plant capacity meets targets.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure adherence to 100% quality standards across all shop-floor activities, maintaining consistent product and process quality at every stage while proactively minimizing wastage and driving efficient use of resources.
- Production Ownership: Own complete responsibility for delivering the planned production volumes (70 lakh units annually), ensuring targets are achieved as per schedule.
- Workflow Management: Oversee the daily production of notebooks, record books, and allied stationery, ensuring strict adherence to schedules.
- Client Customization: Manage specialized manufacturing requirements/ customizations for over 60 institutional clients.
- Operational Flow: Coordinate with supervisors to identify and resolve shop-floor bottlenecks in real-time.
2. Plant Maintenance
- Equipment Reliability: Oversee preventive and breakdown maintenance to maximize Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and minimize downtime.
- Resource Optimization: Maximize the utilization of machinery, materials, and labour while maintaining a spare parts inventory.
- Efficiency Initiatives: Drive continuous improvement projects to reduce wastage and improve manufacturing throughput.
3. Supply Chain & Inventory Control
- Material Planning: Collaborate with procurement to ensure timely raw material availability and maintain optimal inventory levels.
- Waste Management: Closely monitor material consumption to minimize production scrap and wastage.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Partner with Sales, Finance, and Logistics to ensure seamless dispatch and fulfilment of customer commitments.
4. Leadership & Compliance
- Manpower Management: Lead and train a diverse workforce, including operators and contract labour, focusing on productivity, discipline, reward & recognition and engagement
- Regulatory Adherence: Ensure the facility complies with all factory laws, statutory regulations, and EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) standards.
- Audits: Conduct regular safety audits and maintain rigorous documentation for regulatory inspections.
Key Skills & Qualifications
- Experience: 7–12 years in manufacturing, specifically managing high-volume plant operations (printing or stationery experience preferred).
- Education: Graduate degree in Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, or a related manufacturing field.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong command of MS Excel and ERP systems for production tracking and MIS reporting.
- Leadership: Proven ability to manage large-scale manpower and lead deadline-driven production environments.
Key Performance Indicators
- Plan Adherence: Meeting daily, monthly and annual production targets.
- Efficiency: Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and capacity utilization.
- Quality & Cost: Percentage of wastage reduction and forecast accuracy.
- Maintenance: Machine downtime and on-time order fulfilment.
- Safety: Safety compliance scores and manpower productivity.
- People: Lower attrition and higher engagement
