JOB DESCRIPTION Production Lead — Kids Content (Ages 0–6) Department: Content Production | Function: Creative & Production
Reporting To: Head of Production Employment Type: Full-Time Location: On-site / Hybrid Experience: 6–10 Years
POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking a highly experienced and deeply passionate Production Lead to anchor our Kids Content vertical, specialising in original video programming for children aged 0 to 6 years. This is a senior creative-operations role sitting at the intersection of storytelling, child development sensibility, and cutting-edge production technology. The Production Lead will own the end-to-end production pipeline — from the earliest creative spark to final delivery on platform — ensuring every piece of content meets our uncompromising quality standards, brand voice, and developmental appropriateness benchmarks. This individual will also champion the integration of advanced AI-driven workflows across the production lifecycle, driving efficiency without sacrificing creative excellence.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Pipeline & Production Management
● Own and govern the full production pipeline from ideation, scripting, and storyboarding through to post-production, QA, and multi-platform delivery.
● Design, document, and continuously optimise production workflows, ensuring seamless handoffs between creative, animation, audio, and post teams.
● Set realistic schedules and milestones, proactively manage risks, and resolve bottlenecks without compromising creative quality.
● Oversee asset management, versioning systems, and archival processes for all production materials.
● Maintain rigorous QA checkpoints at every stage, with specific lenses on child-safety compliance, educational value, and platform technical specifications.
Creative Development & Ideation
● Collaborate with creative directors, writers, and curriculum consultants during the ideation phase to ensure concepts are developmentally appropriate and engaging for children aged 0–6.
● Provide constructive production feedback on scripts, storyboards, animatics, and style frames, balancing creative ambition with production feasibility.
● Champion brand consistency in visual language, character voice, pacing, and educational messaging across all content. AI-Integrated Production
● Lead the adoption and integration of advanced AI tools across the pipeline — including AI-assisted scripting, voice generation, background generation, animation assistance, and automated QA tools.
● Evaluate emerging AI platforms on a continuous basis, running structured pilots and building internal best-practice documentation.
● Train and upskill team members on AI-augmented workflows, fostering a culture of responsible, human-centred AI adoption.
● Establish guardrails to ensure AI-generated content meets ethical standards, child-safety policies, and brand guidelines.
Team Leadership & Vendor Management
● Lead, mentor, and performance-manage a cross-functional production team comprising producers, animators, editors, sound designers, and QA specialists.
● Source, onboard, and manage external studios, freelancers, and technology vendors; negotiate contracts and ensure delivery standards.
● Foster a psychologically safe, collaborative, and creatively energised team environment.
Budget & Resource Planning
● Develop and manage episode and series budgets in close partnership with the Finance and Executive teams.
● Track actuals vs. budget throughout production; provide regular variance reports with actionable commentary.
● Optimise resource allocation across concurrent projects to maximise throughput and minimise idle time.
Stakeholder Communication & Reporting
● Serve as the primary production point of contact for internal stakeholders — Content Strategy, Marketing, Platform, and Leadership teams.
● Deliver clear, timely status reporting on all active productions, escalating risks and decisions promptly.
● Represent the Production function in cross-departmental planning and roadmap discussions.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
● 6–10 years of progressive experience in video production, with at minimum 3 years in a lead or supervisory production role.
● Demonstrated experience producing content for children, with strong working knowledge of age-appropriate content standards and child development principles for the 0–6 age group.
