The Product Manager is accountable for defining product vision and strategy, ensuring delivery of customer-centric solutions across multiple ARTs, and driving collaboration between engineering, architecture, and business stakeholders. This role operates with high independence, sets strategic goals, and makes decisions impacting multiple functions globally.
Responsibilities
Backlog Ownership & Story Management
- Own, refine, and prioritize the Team Backlog to ensure clarity, technical feasibility, and business value.
- Translate features into clear user stories with well-defined acceptance criteria.
- Ensure stories are vertically sliced for incremental delivery and aligned to architectural direction.
- Validate and accept completed stories per the Definition of Done.
Agile Execution & PI Participation
- Actively participate in PI Planning, ensuring scope clarity, dependency identification, and alignment on objectives.
- Collaborate with the Scrum Master and Development Lead during sprint planning, standups, grooming, and retrospectives.
- Represent the team's commitments, progress, and risks during PI and sprint ceremonies.
Cross Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with engineering, systems architects, QA, DevOps, and global stakeholders to ensure feature readiness and delivery quality.
- Partner with Product Managers to contribute to Program Backlog items, roadmaps, and epic definitions.
- Communicate requirements, priority shifts, and blockers effectively across teams.
Quality, Delivery & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure features meet expected performance, reliability, and compliance standards suitable for airborne systems.
- Promote continuous integration, continuous delivery, and agile best practices.
- Identify process improvements and support team initiatives to improve predictability and velocity.
Qualifications
- Four-year college degree in engineering, business, or a related field.
- 2+ years Product Management and/or Product Ownership or related experience.
- Overall, 10 years of experience is preferable.
- Prior experience in software development, technical sales/solutions, technical customer support, pre-sales engineering, or account management.
- Demonstrated ability or experience with defining requirements in structured frameworks.
- Structured work ethic and excellent organizational skills including ability to leverage strategy and collaboration tools like Jira, Miro, JAMA, Kanban boards.
Required Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage, influence, and inspire internal and external stakeholders, up through executive leadership.
- Strong interest and capacity to identify and address market needs through a continually evolving understanding of industry trends and journeys for key personas (passenger, crew, airline, sponsor, content provider, etc.).
- Ability to translate those market needs into a business hypothesis that can be modeled for commercial evaluation and prioritization in the roadmap.
- Ability to own cross-functional initiatives from conception to execution, leading stakeholder groups and Agile teams.
Preferred Skills
- Demonstrated experience with end-to-end product roadmap ownership and delivery.
- Experience or exposure to airline industry, especially Inflight Connectivity and Entertainment (IFEC) adjacencies.
- Understanding of user-centric approaches to product design, including evolving trends in consumer behavior and accessibility.
- Exposure (academic or experiential) to software development / product management tactics such as Behavior Driven Development, Test Driven Development and Product Needs Analysis.
- Formal training or certifications in Lean Product Management and/or Agile practices, such as SAFe for Teams or Leading SAFe.
