Position Overview

We're looking for a Product Manager who sits at the intersection of US tax domain expertise and AI product thinking. You'll own the product roadmap for our core accounting workflows, work directly with CPA users to extract real pain points, and ship prototypes fast enough to bring to the next discovery call. This is a hands-on, zero-ambiguity role at a seed-stage company where your output ships to real firms within weeks.

Role & Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end product discovery with CPA firm users — map workflows, extract latent needs, and separate critical pain points from nice-to-haves
• Translate discovery findings into precise specs with clear data models, edge cases, and testable acceptance criteria that engineers can act on immediately
• Build demoable prototypes of new features within days of a discovery session using low-code tools, prompt chains, or lightweight front-ends
• Define and maintain the product roadmap for core tax and accounting workflows, prioritising ruthlessly against firm-level ROI
• Participate in technical design discussions on agentic architectures, retrieval approaches, and API integration patterns — contributing meaningfully without being the engineer
• Act as the quality bar for AI output accuracy — catch hallucinated tax rules, misclassified entity types, or incorrect workflow logic before they reach users
• Manage stakeholder communication across founders, CPA firm partners, and enterprise clients — async-first, no-surprises updates that don't require a meeting to understand

Must Have Criteria

• 3+ years of product management experience in B2B SaaS — with at least some exposure to accounting, tax, fintech, or financial workflows (CPA firm experience is a strong plus, not a strict requirement)
• Familiarity with CPA firm or financial services workflows — document collection, review cycles, compliance deadlines, or regulated data handling — either through direct experience or adjacent fintech products
• Daily power user of frontier AI tools (Claude, GPT-4o, Cursor, v0, or Bolt) — uses them to accelerate discovery, prototyping, and spec writing
• Ability to write structured prompts and system instructions for AI agents — understands context windows, tool-calling, and practical failure modes
• Demonstrated ability to build a demoable feature prototype within days using low-code tools or prompt chains — not slides, a working demo
• Writes specs engineers don't have to decipher — clear data models, edge cases called out, acceptance criteria that can be tested
• Proven track record of running structured user discovery sessions and translating ambiguous feedback into prioritised, actionable requirements

Nice to Have

• Direct experience at a CPA firm, tax software company (UltraTax, Lacerte, Drake, CCH Axcess), or fintech serving accountants
• Experience with workflow automation platforms — Zapier, Make, n8n, or Python-based document parsing pipelines (OCR, structured extraction)
• Familiarity with IRS compliance constraints: PTIN/EFIN requirements, IRC §7216 data privacy, e-filing deadlines, and audit trail expectations
• Experience working at a seed or Series A startup where you owned the full product lifecycle with minimal process overhead
• Ability to review PRs for conceptual correctness — not code style, but whether the implementation matches what was agreed to build
