Under general direction, secures and analyzes quotations and negotiates prices and terms with U.S. and international suppliers, subject to management approval, for the purchase of fixed assets, parts, tooling, materials, and/or services. Develops and recommends sources of supply. Expedites the procurement of parts and/or materials in short or critical supply. Coordinates quality matters, engineering, and price changes between company components and suppliers. Develops and implements long-term sourcing strategies. Average annual dollar buy: $150 to $200 million. Role typically requires between 5 and 8 years of experience.
Key Responsibilities / Functions
Supplier Development & Management:
Build and develop a strong, reputable supplier base in India and globally for low- and high-volume parts and assemblies.
Identify, evaluate, and qualify suppliers across Asia and Europe based on technical capability, capacity, cost competitiveness, risk profile, and compliance.
Drive supplier performance improvement, risk assessment, and long-term supplier sustainability initiatives.
Sourcing & Procurement Execution
Lead vendor identification, RFQ/RFP/RFI processes, cost negotiations, and supplier onboarding.
Develop and implement global and plant-level sourcing strategies aligned with cost, quality, delivery, and risk objectives.
Manage indirect procurement activities, ensuring cost control and compliance with corporate procurement policies.Position Overview:
As a Senior Lead Engineer – Procurement, you will be responsible for driving global sourcing strategies, supplier development, and procurement execution across key commodity groups including Plastics, Sheetmetal, Machining, and Bought-out Mechanical & Electrical parts. You will play a critical role in establishing and expanding the India and global supplier base, ensuring cost competitiveness, quality excellence, supply continuity, and logistics effectiveness.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, Quality, Finance, and Global Sourcing teams across Marmon Foodservice Technologies group companies. You will apply strong technical understanding, cost modelling, supplier management, supply planning, and logistics expertise to support product development, production continuity, and business growth for Marmon Foodservice Technologies – India.
Mandatory Skills
Minimum 8–10 years of experience in sourcing and procurement, with at least 3 years in global sourcing.
Strong experience managing Plastics, Sheetmetal, Machining, and Bought-out parts (Mechanical & Electrical).
Proven capability in supplier identification, qualification, development, and lifecycle management.
Expertise in RFQ/RFP/RFI processes, supplier negotiations, and cost reduction initiatives.
Strong understanding of engineering drawings and ability to communicate technical requirements to suppliers.
Experience with cost breakdown analysis, value engineering, and design-to-cost initiatives.
Working knowledge of PPAP, APQP, IATF 16949, and supplier quality processes.
Experience supporting material planning, logistics coordination, and import activities.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to work independently in a fast
Logistics, Import & Supply Planning
Manage logistics and import-related activities, including inbound freight negotiations, Incoterms alignment, and coordination of customs clearance activities.
Support short-term and long-term material planning in collaboration with operations and supply chain teams to ensure uninterrupted production.
Monitor material availability, supplier commitments, and lead times to support SOP launches and production ramp-ups.
Stakeholder & Operations Engagement
Act as the primary procurement interface for Operations on supplier-related issues including delivery delays, quality concerns, and commercial disputes.
Serve as a strategic partner to Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Finance, and Operations teams, ensuring alignment between design intent, sourcing strategy, and production needs.
Communicate effectively with global stakeholders to ensure sourcing alignment and execution excellence.
Cost & Value Engineering
Perform detailed cost breakdown analysis and lead value engineering initiatives to achieve cost-saving targets.
Collaborate with engineering teams to influence design-to-cost and design-for-manufacturing decisions early in the product lifecycle.
Market Intelligence & Risk Management
Maintain strong awareness of global market trends, raw material price movements, logistics constraints, and geopolitical risks.
Conduct supply base risk analysis and develop mitigation plans to ensure supply continuity and resilience.
Supplier Evaluation & Compliance
Assess and qualify suppliers based on quality, reliability, service, cost, capacity, logistics capability, and compliance.
Ensure adherence to required standards and certifications including IATF 16949, ISO 14001, UL, NSF, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
Project & Timeline Management: Monitor supplier progress to meet development milestones, including on-time submission of FAIR samples and successful SOP launches.
Continuous Improvement: Drive supplier performance enhancements through lean methodologies, process improvements, and systematic problem-solving.
Issue Resolution & Leadership: Lead investigations into major supplier issues and collaborate with supply chain teams on product development and procurement strategies.
Compliance & Governance: Ensure compliance with all corporate, legal, ethical, and governance requirements, with appropriate procurement controls and documentation in place.
Travel Requirements: This role involves both domestic and international travel, primarily within India.
Additional Support: Take on other responsibilities as needed to support sourcing and business development initiatives.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical, Production, Industrial, or Automobile Engineering.
- 8–10 years of sourcing experience, including a minimum of 3 years in a global sourcing role.
- Demonstrated success in supplier negotiation, strategic sourcing, and cost reduction programs.
- Strong analytical, planning, and problem-solving capabilities with high attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining quality and delivery commitments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
