Role DescriptionThis is a full-time, on-site Procurement Manager role located in Chennai.
The Procurement Manager will oversee the end-to-end procurement process by identifying and evaluating suppliers, negotiating contracts, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring compliance with procurement policies and internal standards.
The role will work closely with engineering, operations, finance, and supply chain teams to ensure timely sourcing of materials including electrical, electronics, mechanical, civil components, and agricultural inputs required for projects and operations.
Responsibilities also include analyzing purchasing data to optimize costs, maintaining procurement documentation, supporting inventory planning, and contributing to budgeting and supply chain efficiency.
QualificationsExpertise in Supplier Evaluation and building strong vendor relationships.
Proficiency in Contract Negotiation and Contract Management to secure favorable commercial terms and ensure compliance.
Strong Analytical Skills to evaluate procurement performance and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Solid background in Procurement and Supply Chain Management practices and policies.
Strong communication skills, detail-oriented mindset, and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
Experience in agritech, engineering, manufacturing, or sustainability sectors is an advantage.
Proficiency in procurement tools and ERP systems (such as Odoo, SAP, Tally, or similar platforms) is preferred.
Minimum 5+ years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or store management within engineering, construction, manufacturing, or infrastructure environments.
Understand technical specifications and project requirements to source the right electrical, electronics, civil, mechanical materials, and agricultural inputs such as seeds and related supplies.
Identify, evaluate, and maintain relationships with reliable vendors and suppliers.
Issue RFQs, compare vendor quotations, and conduct effective commercial negotiations on pricing, delivery timelines, payment terms, and contracts.
Generate and manage purchase orders while ensuring timely delivery and compliance with quality standards.
Work closely with engineering, project, and operations teams to forecast material requirements and plan procurement schedules.
Maintain procurement records and ensure adherence to company procurement policies and budgets.
Manage day-to-day store operations including receipt, inspection, storage, and issuance of materials.
Monitor inventory levels to ensure availability of critical components, materials, tools, and consumables while avoiding stockouts or excess inventory.
Implement and maintain inventory control systems to track stock movement and generate reports.
Conduct regular stock audits and reconcile physical inventory with system records.
Ensure proper tagging, labeling, and safe storage of materials according to operational and safety standards.
Coordinate with project or site teams for timely material dispatch and replenishment.
Proactively identify cost-saving opportunities through supplier negotiations, alternative sourcing, and procurement process improvements.
