Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Tecnomatix Process Simulate / Machine Design Engineer will be responsible for developing and validating digital manufacturing simulations or designing production equipment for automotive applications. This role ensures optimized cycle times, ergonomic compliance, and robust machine designs to support high-volume automotive manufacturing. The candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver cost-effective, safe, and efficient solutions aligned with industry standards and project timelines.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

A) Tecnomatix Process Simulate (Digital Manufacturing / Robotics)

.Develop detailed 3D simulation models for BIW, assembly, paint, and material handling processes using Siemens Tecnomatix Process Simulate.

.Perform robotic path planning including reachability analysis, collision detection, and optimization for cycle time and energy efficiency.

.Validate process feasibility for welding (spot/MIG), sealing, fastening, and assembly operations ensure compliance with ergonomic and safety standards.

.Create and optimize OLP (Offline Programming) for robots verify signal handshakes and I/O mapping for PLC integration.

.Conduct line balancing and throughput analysis using MTM/MOST or equivalent methods propose layout improvements and buffer sizing.

.Integrate tooling and EOAT models into simulation validate fixture positioning and accessibility.

.Prepare simulation reports, buy-off documentation, and digital twin assets for design reviews and customer approvals.

.Collaborate with controls and commissioning teams to support FAT/SAT and shop-floor validation troubleshoot discrepancies between simulation and real-world performance.

.Maintain simulation standards and libraries for reuse across projects develop macros or scripts for repetitive tasks.

B) Machine Design (Production Equipment & Fixtures)

.Conceptualize and design special purpose machines (SPM), jigs, and fixtures for BIW, assembly, and powertrain operations using NX/CATIA/SolidWorks.

.Perform detailed design calculations including GD&T per ASME Y14.5, tolerance stack-up, and structural adequacy for dynamic loads.

.Integrate mechanical systems such as pneumatics, hydraulics, actuators, and drive systems ensure compatibility with sensors and control systems.

.Develop complete design documentation including BOM, detailed drawings, assembly instructions, and maintenance manuals.

.Conduct DFMEA/PFMEA and risk assessments per ISO 12100 ensure compliance with CE/OSHA safety standards.

.Support vendor development and manufacturing by providing technical guidance, reviewing prototypes, and resolving design issues during trials.

.Participate in commissioning and ramp-up activities troubleshoot mechanical issues and implement corrective actions.

.Ensure cost optimization and manufacturability of designs while maintaining quality and reliability standards.

.Collaborate with cross-functional teams (process, controls, quality, and suppliers) to meet project timelines and deliverables.
