Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Process Design & Optimization:

  • Design, develop, and optimize industrial processes to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency in plant operations.
  • Analyze existing processes and recommend improvements, including modifications to equipment, materials, or production procedures.
  • Develop and implement process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and control strategies to improve plant performance.
  • Utilize simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) to model processes and evaluate potential modifications.
  • Continuously monitor process operations to identify areas of improvement and implement changes to maximize plant efficiency.

Plant Operations Management:

  • Oversee daily plant operations, ensuring that production targets, quality standards, and safety protocols are met.
  • Ensure smooth coordination between the operations, maintenance, and safety teams to minimize downtime and prevent disruptions to production.
  • Develop and manage production schedules, ensuring on-time delivery of products while maintaining optimal resource allocation.
  • Provide technical support to the operations team for troubleshooting and resolving any process-related issues.

Safety & Compliance:

  • Ensure all processes are compliant with industry standards, environmental regulations, and safety requirements.
  • Implement and promote a culture of safety within the plant, including conducting safety audits, risk assessments, and training for plant staff.
  • Monitor plant operations to ensure that all activities are performed safely, with minimal environmental impact, and in compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct hazard analysis (HAZOP, FMEA) and ensure that process safety management protocols are in place.

Maintenance & Reliability:

  • Work closely with the maintenance team to identify critical equipment, monitor performance, and develop strategies for predictive and preventive maintenance.
  • Ensure that all equipment and systems operate at peak efficiency and reliability.
  • Develop and manage maintenance schedules, ensuring that the plant minimizes unplanned downtime and maximizes productivity.
  • Address equipment failures, coordinate repairs, and troubleshoot issues to prevent production delays.

Cost Management & Resource Allocation:

  • Monitor operational costs and identify opportunities for cost savings through process optimization, energy efficiency, and resource management.
  • Assist in budgeting and controlling operational costs, ensuring that production remains within financial constraints.
  • Evaluate the cost-effectiveness of new equipment and technologies to improve plant operations and reduce costs.

Quality Control & Process Monitoring:

  • Implement and maintain quality control systems to ensure that finished products meet customer specifications and regulatory standards.
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for process efficiency, quality, and safety.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits of plant processes, products, and systems to ensure that they meet established quality standards.
  • Collaborate with the quality assurance team to troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to product quality.

Project Management:

  • Lead or support process improvement projects, including the installation of new equipment, upgrading existing systems, or implementing new technologies.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams (e.g., engineering, maintenance, procurement) to execute projects on time and within budget.
  • Provide technical input and leadership in project planning, design, implementation, and commissioning phases.

Documentation & Reporting:

  • Prepare technical reports, process documentation, and operation manuals to communicate findings, changes, and improvements.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of process data, maintenance schedules, production performance, and safety compliance.
  • Provide regular performance reports to senior management, highlighting progress, issues, and opportunities for improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in process plant or industrial engineering, with hands-on experience in process optimization, maintenance, and safety management.
  • Industry Expertise: Experience in industries such as oil & gas, chemical processing, food & beverage, power generation, or manufacturing is preferred.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Process Engineering Expertise: Strong knowledge of industrial processes, equipment, and process flow optimization techniques.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify problems, analyze data, and develop effective solutions for operational and process-related issues.
  • Project Management: Experience managing process improvement projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource management.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency in process simulation software (Aspen Plus, HYSYS), AutoCAD, process control systems (PLC, SCADA), and MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Safety & Compliance Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of process safety management (PSM), environmental regulations, and industry standards (e.g., ISO, OSHA, EPA).
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of presenting technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Leadership & Team Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, lead teams, and manage resources to achieve plant objectives.
