Job Description

Principal Technical Specialist: Contribute to system-level testing and automation of Layer 2/3 and MPLS features on Nokia's Flagship Fiber Access platforms. Collaborate with development and product teams to validate customer use cases, ensure control/data plane performance, and verify management interfaces and security features in a high-performance, embedded networking environment.

How You Will Contribute And What You Will Learn

  • System-Level Networking Validation. Performed end-to-end testing of Layer 2/Layer 3 protocols and MPLS features to ensure reliable service behavior across complex network topologies.
  • Test Automation & Performance Testing . Designed and executed automation frameworks using Python and Shell to streamline regression, scalability, and performance testing.
  • Debugging & Issue Resolution. Actively debugged and analyzed data plane and control plane issues in real time, collaborating closely with development teams for rapid resolution.
  • Platform & Feature Verification. Validated switching and routing functionality on Broadcom and Marvell chipsets, including customer-specific use cases in collaboration with PLMs.
  • Programmability & Security Testing.Tested programmable interfaces (gNMI, NETCONF) and advanced security mechanisms such as DoS protection and protocol robustness using Defensics on carrier-grade embedded systems.

Key Skills And Experience

You Have:

  • Graduate or Master's degree in Engineering with 1218 years of experience in testing and analyzing high-performance switching and routing software.
  • Strong expertise in Layer 2 (VLAN, ERPS, LAG, etc.) and/or Layer 3 technologies, including IPv4/IPv6 forwarding, OSPF, BGP, IS-IS, PIM, and MPLS (L2VPN, LDP, RSVP).
  • Proficient in Python programming and Shell scripting for test automation, analysis, and tooling.
  • Hands-on experience testing and validating programmable management interfaces such as gNMI and NETCONF.
  • Familiarity with Broadcom and Marvell chipsets, including data plane verification and hardware-accelerated forwarding validation.
  • Experience with customer-centric validation, field issues, or production network environments.

It Would Be Nice If You Also Have:

  • Knowledge of security testing methodologies and tools (e.g., Defensics) Familiarity with telecom standards and network product lifecycle
