Overview

Synaptics is looking for a well-qualified Principal Systems Engineer to join our dynamic and growing organization. You will be responsible for developing and driving new technologies working on the MAC/PHY/Radio algorithm development and system integration. You will be collaborating closely with the RF/CHIP/SW team in validating and optimizing overall performance of connectivity chips. This position reports to the Director, R&D.

Responsibilities & Competencies

Job Duties

  • Drive key new technologies in connectivity design/development
  • Ensure processes are in place for high-quality modem design
  • Be the technical lead for a highly motivated top-class team
  • Be involved in the algorithmic partition across software, firmware, and hardware
  • Guide the team to develop WLAN PHY baseband algorithms
  • Innovate and develop new features in wireless system that enhance system performance or reduce cost and die-size
  • Be closely involved in the standardization activities in IEEE /WFA/or BT SIG
  • Work closely with RF and ASIC and SW teams to implement algorithms in the Hardware/Firmware
  • Evolve processes for test and performance optimization of WLAN and BT chips
  • Provide expertise on technical issues or specific technologies in the Wi-Fi field or Bluetooth or UWB
  • Work closely with internal teams (RF, Software, Algorithm, Chip, AE/FAE, marketing) for productizing WLAN&BT Combo chip for Home IOT and Automotive markets

Qualifications (Requirements)

  • Masters or PhD in Electrical Engineering with emphasis on communication engineering or signal processing or related field, or equivalent
  • Minimum of 12+ years of experience in mentoring R&D teams with focus on communication algorithms for the wireless PHY layer protocols such as 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax/be, or cellular technologies (3G/4G/5G) or other wireless technologies
  • Track record of successfully taping-out multiple chips
  • Strong inter-personal skills
  • Ability to travel internationally up to 10%
