Position Overview

ThePrincipal Platform Services Engineer within Autodesk'sCloud Infrastructure, Platform & Engineering (CIPE)organization will be a key contributor in advancing our next-generationintelligent cloud platform and Developer tools. This role focuses on buildingscalable, secure, and self-optimizing systemsthat power Autodesk's global engineering ecosystem and Tier-0 services.

We are seeking an experiencedPrincipal Platform Engineerto design, build, and operate modern, scalable platforms onAmazon EKSandAzure AKS. This role goes beyond cluster administration and focuses onplatform engineering,GitOps-based delivery,event-driven systems, andAI agent enablement. The ideal individual will have strongPython development skills, experience withKafka, and hands-on exposure toAI agent development , MCP or similar tool-integration frameworks.

Key Responsibilities
Kubernetes & Platform Engineering

  • Design, deploy, and operate Kubernetes platforms onAWS EKSandAzure AKS
  • Manage full cluster lifecycle including provisioning, upgrades, scaling, and security
  • Build reusable, self-service Kubernetes platform capabilities for application teams
  • Implement multi-tenant, highly available, and secure cluster architectures

GitOps & Automation

  • Design and implementGitOps workflowsusing tools such asArgo CDorFlux
  • Establish Git as the source of truth for infrastructure and application deployments
  • Standardize deployment patterns using Helm, Kustomize, and policy-as-code
  • Automate platform operations and compliance controls

Kafka & Event-Driven Platforms

  • Deploy and manageKafkaplatforms (self-managed or managed) on Kubernetes
  • Support event-driven and streaming workloads
  • Ensure Kafka reliability, scalability, and observability

Development & Tooling

  • Develop automation tools, operators, and internal services usingPython
  • Build APIs and services to simplify platform operations and developer workflows
  • Integrate CI/CD pipelines with Kubernetes, GitOps, and AI-driven automation
  • Collaborate closely with application, SRE, and security teams

Security, Reliability & Operations

  • Implement Kubernetes security best practices (RBAC, network policies, secrets management)
  • Enable observability using metrics, logging, and tracing
  • Troubleshoot complex production issues across Kubernetes, Kafka, AI agents, and cloud services
  • Support reliability engineering practices and incident response

Good to have: AI Agent & MCP Development

  • Design and buildAI agent platformsintegrated with Kubernetes environments
  • DevelopAI agentsthat interact with infrastructure, APIs, and internal services
  • Build and maintainMCP (Model Context Protocol) serversto expose tools, resources, and workflows to AI agents
  • Integrate AI agents with GitOps pipelines, operational workflows, and observability systems
  • Ensure secure, auditable, and scalable AI-agent interactions

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ yearsof experience in Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure, or platform engineering
  • Strong hands-on experience withKubernetes administration
  • Proven experience withAWS EKSandAzure AKS
  • Experience implementingGitOpsusing Argo CD, or similar tools
  • Hands-on experience withKafkaplatforms
  • StrongPython development skills
  • Experience building or integratingAI agentsand automation workflows
  • Understanding ofMCP (Model Context Protocol)or similar agent-tool integration frameworks
  • Solid understanding of Kubernetes networking, storage, and security concepts
  • Experience buildingInternal Developer Platforms (IDP)
  • Familiarity with service meshes (Istio, Linkerd, App Mesh)
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM, CloudFormation)
  • Knowledge of observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry)
  • Experience operating platforms in regulated or enterprise environments
  • Experience with cloud-native AI/ML platforms
