We are hiring a Principal Engineer -Track to lead our Transportation Systems (Rail & Transit) team in Noida, India, ensuring effective coordination and delivery of Canada GCC Track design projects and client satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Your principal role will be day-to-day project management, carrying out concept studies and detailed designs, leading to planning applications or construction drawings. You will be supported by a team of technical staff at various job levels.
- The role will include technical guidance, project management, cost and quality control and work brief preparation to enable the team to produce detailed designs for technical approval and tender/ construction use.
- You will also involve internal client liaison, assisting in the preparation of fee proposals and financial control of projects when acting as a team lead/ project lead.
- In leading the design process, you will be expected to set clear goals for the team members, monitoring their progress closely and encouraging them to deliver appropriate and cost-effective solutions to the agreed programme. You will also be expected to support those more inexperienced by technical review, mentoring, guiding and training.
- You will coordinate the production and timely delivery of the Track alignment designs from a range of internal and external clients.
- You will set frameworks for assurance of technical performance and quality within the Track discipline.
- You will maintain an internal and external network across the Rail & Transit sector to build knowledge of our market, the competitive landscape and the current and future needs of our clients
- You will perform the day-to-day design team activities for all the Railway projects.
- As a technical expert, you will also produce Track design specifications and alignment design criteria.
- You will also act as an independent/ peer reviewer for the Track design and technical reports to provide structured feedback.
- You will promote professional development in the discipline.
- You will support the development of the technical training programme for the strengthening of the team's capabilities.
- You will be responsible for ensuring your projects are delivered to budget, programme and technical standards and meet QA, Sustainability and HSE requirements.
Qualifications
Mandatory Competencies and Skills
- Minimum of 10-12 years of experience and proven experience in handling a team and successfully delivering the project to the client's satisfaction.
- Ability to demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge and experience in Railways as well as a wide knowledge of the Railway Industry.
- Proficiency in planning and designing deliverables in accordance with Canadian Engineering standards at each phase of the project is required.
- Canadian Rail project experience and skilled in developing design solutions that comply with Canadian and North American railway standards, including AREMA.
- Strong ability to influence stakeholders, guide the teams, and deliver strategic outcomes.
- Demonstrates strong personal ownership and responsibility in delivering high-quality results for clients and supporting team objectives.
- Proactively explores opportunities to add value and enhance both individual and team performance.
- Proficient in preparing drawings required for legal adoption, technical approvals, and contract documentation.
- Excellent English communication skills are essential requirements for the role to communicate a clear vision and inspire others with energy, enthusiasm, ownership, and personal commitment.
Software Skills:
- Demonstrated experience and strong proficiency in using Open Rail Designer, Civil 3D and similar Rail Modelling Software.
- Should have working knowledge of MicroStation and AutoCAD
- Demonstrated knowledge of Generative Components (GC)/ Dynamo for the automation/ any computational design tool
- Knowledge of Gauge Analysis tools.
- Familiarity with ProjectWise, ACC, and SharePoint
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
- Master of Science in Transportation Engineering or a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering .
- Professionally qualified as PEng/ CEng/ IEng / any equivalent professional qualification.
