Principal Engineer

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Principal Engineer.

In this role, you will:

• Act as an advisor to leadership to develop or influence applications, network, information security, database, operating systems, or web technologies for highly complex business and technical needs across multiple groups
• Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex and unique challenges requiring in-depth evaluation across multiple areas or the enterprise, delivering solutions that are long-term, large-scale and require vision, creativity, innovation, advanced analytical and inductive thinking
• Translate advanced technology experience, an in-depth knowledge of the organizations tactical and strategic business objectives, the enterprise technological environment, the organization structure, and strategic technological opportunities and requirements into technical engineering solutions
• Provide vision, direction and expertise to leadership on implementing innovative and significant business solutions
• Maintain knowledge of industry best practices and new technologies and recommends innovations that enhance operations or provide a competitive advantage to the organization
• Strategically engage with all levels of professionals and managers across the enterprise and serve as an expert advisor to leadership

Required Qualifications:

• 7+ years of Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

• Overall 15+ years of experience, 5+ years working with Azure and/or GCP and a proven track record of building complex infrastructure programmatically with IaC tools.

• Must have professional cloud certification on Azure or GCP.

• Must have 3+ years of hands-on experience working with cloud automation tools such as Terraform and Github.

• Must have architecture, design and implementation experience on Azure or GCP with exposure in defining/implementing strategy and roadmap for cloud adoption.

• Drive architectural discussions and serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for high visibility cloud computing initiatives to ensure solutions are designed for successful deployment, security, cost effectiveness and high availability in the cloud.

• Provides expert level design and engineering support towards the successful delivery of cloud project portfolio.

• In depth, practical experience with Cloud methodologies (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS), automation, orchestration, trends and industry-leading cloud vendor offerings

Expert in designing, building, and automating solutionsutilizing Azure or GCP services on one or more of them -

• Proficient on container-based solution services, have handled at least 2-3 large scale Kubernetes based Infrastructure build out, provisioning of services in Azure or GCP.

• Proficient and have a thorough understanding of Cloud service offerings on Storage and Database.

• Proficient and have thorough understanding of networking, firewalls, load balancing concepts (IP, DNS, Guardrails, Vnets) and exposure to cloud security, AD, authentication methods, RBAC.

• Proficient and have a thorough understanding of Cloud service offerings on

• Data, Analytics, AI/ML.

Proficient and have a thorough understanding of Cloud service offerings on Security, Data Protection and Security policy implementations.

Proficient on cloud computing concepts like landing zone, App Service Environment, Blueprints.

Proficient on Control Plane, Azure Arc and Google Anthos.

• Should have exposure to Cloud governance and logging/monitoring tools.

• Experience with Agile, CI/CD, DevOps concepts and SRE principles.

• Experience in scripting (Shell, Python)

• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to articulate technical solutions to both technical and business audiences

• Ability to deliver & engage with partners effectively in a multi-cultural environment by demonstrating co-ownership & accountability in a matrix structure.

• Ability to influence, partner, and negotiate with senior business leaders to drive strategic outcomes.

• Delivery focus and willingness to work in a fast-paced, enterprise environment.
