Job Description
To undertake Telecommunications systems design & engineering activities within the group, Lead the team for projects independently, analyse the project requirements and provide input to the project manager in respect of both design and consultancy services. To provide technical support and assistance.
Responsibilities
Undertaking of tasks as assigned, in particular:
- The candidate shall be responsible for the Co-ordination and assurance of Telecommunications Systems design. The candidate is required to have a proven working knowledge of the activities necessary to produce fully assured designs for the following systems
- Structured Cabling,
- Public Address / Voice Alarm systems,
- Passenger Information System,
- Closed Circuit Television systems,
- Access Control systems,
- Intrusion Detection,
- SCADA,
- Building Management System,
- Passenger Help Point systems,
- Wireless System,
- Networking and Telephone System,
- Cyber Security,
- Cabling Containment System
- Delivering Telecommunications systems (design and consultancy) Projects and lead the project teams based in Bengaluru
- Responsible for Telecommunications systems inputs/outputs to Rail engineering (design and consultancy) projects
- Responsible to contribute to Telecommunications systems engineering input to multi-disciplinary railway engineering (design and consultancy) projects
- Co-ordination with other disciplines (internal and external) in the placement and integration of communication equipment within the overall design.
- Production of reports, schedules, drawings, and technical schematics.
- Verification of the design against customer requirements and standards.
- Attendance at internal and external co-ordination, progress, and design review meetings.
- Undertake design reviews of other concurrent Communication Systems designs.
- Responsible for the preparation of deliverables and manage all the resources necessary for the completion of the task
- Lead large-scale telecommunications projects through to site support and final customer acceptance.
- Estimate the effort required by different types of resources to complete large-scale telecommunications projects
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior designers and engineers, fostering a collaborative and productive team environment.
- Delegate tasks effectively, ensuring efficient workload distribution and professional development opportunities for team members.
- Review and approve design documents, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with relevant codes and standards.
- Proven experience in leading design efforts and managing projects in a client-facing role.

- Train and mentor Graduate and Junior engineers.
- Communicate Effectively with the lead country.
- Organise Knowledge share and lesson's learnt sessions from projects/tasks.
- Participate in Internal and External Audit preparations.
- Report writing, Design Calculations and Inter disciplinary meetings to be handled effectively on projects
- Compliance with company safety and ethics policies.
- Ensure the Project delivery with quality and time bound. Responsible for team's output quality and project submission time adherence.
Key Competencies / Skills
- 12-20 years of Experience in Telecommunications systems design Australian geography experience will be preferred
- Experience in various project phases such as conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design etc.
- Strong understanding of cabling standards and best practices (TIA/EIA, BICSI, NEC).
- Support and develop telecommunications design deliverables such as system overview drawing, conceptual, preliminary, and detailed designs, layout drawings, wiring drawings, cable schedules, rack layouts, storage & bandwidth calculations.
- Knowledge of fundamental engineering and communication systems standards and best practice.
- Knowledge and experience of the requirements for designing safety critical and safety related systems.
- Ability to produce coherent and accurate documentation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within multi-disciplinary teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and a commitment to quality
- Excellent mentoring and communication skills
Qualifications
- Master / Bachelor's degree in engineering, Instrumentation, Telecommunications, Electrical or any other related discipline
- Proficient with MS office specially Excel and Power point
- Professionally accredited
- High proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & PowerPoint).
- High proficiency in the use of Revit, AutoCAD, Navis, and Revu Bluebeam.
- Certifications like CCNA, CCNP, RCDD, PSP or from a manufacturer related to the telecommunications field is an asset.
- Experience in Vendor specific tools such as JVSG, EASE, RF tools (iB-Wave) etc.,
- Experience in working with Australia Rail is an added advantage.
- Familiarity with current codes and technologies pertinent to telecommunications and building technologies.
- Quality and safety oriented design skills with on time delivery approach.
