About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Principal Engineer.


In this role, you will:

  • Act as an advisor to leadership to develop or influence applications, network, information security, database, operating systems, or web technologies for highly complex business and technical needs across multiple groups
  • Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex and unique challenges requiring in-depth evaluation across multiple areas or the enterprise, delivering solutions that are long-term, large-scale and require vision, creativity, innovation, advanced analytical and inductive thinking
  • Translate advanced technology experience, an in-depth knowledge of the organizations tactical and strategic business objectives, the enterprise technological environment, the organization structure, and strategic technological opportunities and requirements into technical engineering solutions
  • Provide vision, direction and expertise to leadership on implementing innovative and significant business solutions
  • Maintain knowledge of industry best practices and new technologies and recommends innovations that enhance operations or provide a competitive advantage to the organization
  • Strategically engage with all levels of professionals and managers across the enterprise and serve as an expert advisor to leadership


Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education


Desired Qualifications:

  • Strong proficiency in architecting and building critical enterprise solutions using API ecosystems, cloudnative applications, and microservice/serverless architectures.

  • Proficiency in designing and developing APIbased applications using .Net Core, microservices, and cloudnative patterns.

  • Strong experience in UI, UX to build modern applications.
  • Strong ability to define nonfunctional requirements, assess architectural risks, and recommend mitigation strategies to stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated capability to drive continuous improvement, modernize technology stacks, and address technical debt while balancing longterm architectural vision with shortterm business needs.
  • Proven ability to lead technology innovation, influence engineering direction, and champion emerging technologies to deliver meaningful business outcomes.
  • Expertise in translating business and functional requirements into highquality architectural documentation and design artifacts.
  • Strong awareness of industry trends, with the ability to evaluate new technologies and guide product teams on adoption strategies.
  • Excellent communication skills for articulating complex technical concepts to senior leadership and engineering teams.
  • Advanced understanding and application of design patterns, cloudnative principles, microservice patterns, and architectural best practices.
  • Ability to mentor, coach, and elevate engineering teams toward high performance and architectural excellence.

  • Identify and define nonfunctional requirements, assess risks, and guide stakeholders through critical architectural decisions.
  • Drive continuous improvement by modernizing platforms, reducing technical debt, and optimizing performance and reliability.
  • Act as a technology evangelist, leading transformational initiatives that deliver new business outcomes or accelerate existing ones.
  • Convert requirements into highquality architectural designs, documentation, and engineering artifacts.
  • Advise product teams on emerging tech trends, tools, frameworks, and industry innovations.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts to senior leadership and engineering stakeholders in clear, actionable terms.
  • Guide the design and development of applications using Angular, .Net Core microservices, and cloudnative patterns.
  • Apply design patterns, cloud principles, and architectural best practices to ensure scalable, resilient solutions.
  • Mentor and coach highperforming engineering teams, strengthening overall technical capability across the organization.
