Principal Engineer, Buildings Physics- A&C, REC

• Building Performance & Energy Modelling

Develop energy models and building physics analysis using IES and SAP software. Prepare energy strategies for planning applications, including GLA documentation. Conduct Part L compliance assessments and support sustainable building design across project stages.

• Operational Energy & Compliance

Assess operational energy performance in line with CIBSE TM54 and NABERS to reduce performance gaps. Ensure compliance with building regulations and sector-specific standards, including defence and healthcare requirements.

• Thermal Comfort & Risk Analysis

Conduct overheating risk assessments and evaluate thermal comfort performance. Support mitigation strategies to ensure buildings meet environmental and occupant comfort standards.

• Decarbonisation & Retrofit Strategy

Develop retrofit pathways for existing buildings to achieve net-zero carbon targets. Recommend energy efficiency upgrades and low-carbon HVAC and building systems solutions.

• Sustainability & Certification Support

Provide technical guidance for sustainability certifications such as LEED, BREEAM, WELL, Passivhaus, and NABERS. Influence design decisions to meet high-performance sustainability goals.

• Stakeholder Coordination & Advisory Role

Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and clients to deliver integrated design solutions. Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders and provide strategic advisory support.

• Digital & Advanced Design Tools

Use advanced digital tools such as Rhino, Grasshopper, and parametric modelling platforms. Apply coding and digital workflows to enhance building performance analysis and innovation.

• Regulatory Awareness & Technical Leadership

Stay updated with evolving building regulations and industry standards. Guide internal teams on building physics best practices and emerging technical developments.
