We are seeking a Principal Automation Engineer / Test Architect with 12+Tears of experience to define, own, and drive the test automation, BDD, and CI/CD quality strategy for our medical device software platforms. This is a highly hands‑on role requiring deep technical expertise across mobile, web, backend, and cloud‑native systems, operating within a regulated product environment.

The role demands strong architectural ownership, continuous coding, mentorship by influence, and close collaboration with engineering, product, DevOps, and platform teams to ensure quality is built into every stage of delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Automation Architecture & Strategy

• Define and own the end‑to‑end test automation architecture across mobile applications, web platforms, and backend services.
• Design, develop, and evolve native C# automation frameworks with a focus on scalability, reliability, and long‑term maintainability.
• Establish and scale BDD‑based automation frameworks using SpecFlow (or equivalent), ensuring alignment between business requirements and automated validation.
• Apply proven automation and software design patterns to build modular, extensible automation solutions.
• Define automation standards, coding guidelines, and best practices across teams.

Testing & Quality Engineering

• Lead adoption and maturity of Behavior‑Driven Development (BDD) practices
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to define clear, testable acceptance criteria.
• Ensure feature files remain readable, meaningful, and aligned with business intent.
• Maintain a strong hands‑on presence across the testing lifecycle: requirements analysis, test strategy, automation development, execution, and reporting.
• Drive automation across UI, API, and integration layers with clear ownership of coverage and quality signals

API, Data & Backend Validation

• Lead API automation testing for microservices‑based and backend systems.
• Validate data integrity and backend behavior using MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and MySQL.
• Design contract, integration, and regression test strategies suitable for distributed systems.

CI/CD, DevOps & Cloud‑Native Testing

• Architect and embed automation‑first CI/CD quality gates across build, integration, system, and regression stages.
• Integrate automation frameworks into CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or equivalents).
• Enable parallel and scalable test execution using Docker and Kubernetes‑based test runners.
• Drive pipeline stability through flaky test detection, fast feedback strategies, and test observability.

AI & Advanced Testing

• Lead or contribute to AI model testing, including model validation, accuracy checks, regression testing, and data quality validation.
• Leverage AI-assisted testing tools and approaches to improve automation efficiency and maintenance.

Technical Leadership & Collaboration

• Provide technical leadership through influence, code reviews, and architectural guidance.
• Mentor automation engineers and senior SDETs to raise the technical bar.
• Partner closely with engineering, DevOps, platform, and product teams to embed a quality‑first mindset.

Stakeholder Management

• Act as a trusted quality and risk advisor in a regulated product environment.
• Communicate test strategy, quality metrics, automation health, and risk assessment to senior stakeholders.
• Align automation and quality strategy with business goals.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience in test automation, quality engineering, or test architecture.
• Expert proficiency in C# automation development.
• Strong experience with BDD frameworks (SpecFlow or equivalent).
• Hands‑on experience with Appium (Android & iOS).
• Proven expertise in API and backend testing.
• Experience with MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and MySQL.
• Strong experience integrating automation into CI/CD pipelines.
• Solid understanding of Kubernetes and cloud‑native architectures.
• Deep knowledge of automation design patterns and best practices.
• Experience mentoring senior engineers and influencing technical direction.
• Exposure to regulated domains (Medical Devices / Healthcare) is a strong plus.
• Experience with AI/ML testing is desirable.
